Inleiding HERENHUIS, gesitueerd in de gesloten, uit eind negentiende-eeuwse herenhuizen bestaande noordelijke gevelwand van de Praediniussingel, gebouwd in 1891 inopdracht van A.H. Hart in een karakteristieke eclectische bouwstijl. Het gebouw is sinds 1984 in gebruik als woongebouw en daartoe inwendig geheel aangepast. Omschrijving Het gebouw is opgetrokken op een rechthoekige plattegrond en bestaat uit een souterrain met drie bouwlagen onder een afgeknot schilddak, belegd met een zwarte Friese golfpan. In het voordakschild is een brede houten dakkapel van later datum aangebracht. De voorgevel is drie traveeën breed en opgetrokken uit roodbruine baksteen; de westelijke toegangstravee risaleert enigszins. Het gevelmuurwerk is verlevendigd met stuc dorpelbanden. De verdiepingen worden afgesloten door een stuc cordonlijst. Een hardstenen steektrap van zes treden leidt over het met hardsteen beklede souterrain naar de portiek, dat met een rondboog is gesloten. In de portiek zijn in neo-maniëristische stijl besneden houten deuren met bovenlichten geplaatst. Het hierboven gelegen balkon rust op Dorische zuilen. Rond de balkondeuren is een aediculastelling aangebracht. De openslaande balkondeuren hebben gepaarde rondbogen. De overige vensters zijn rechtgesloten en hebben rondboogvormige en segmentboogvormige ontlastingsbogen. De boogtrommels zijn ingevuld met terracotta, dat met rank- en loofwerk is versierd. De vensters op de tweede verdieping zijn gesloten met strekken en stuc negblokken en sluitstenen. De gevel wordt afgesloten door een kroonlijst met spiegels, die een geprofileerde bakgoot draagt. Introduction TOWNHOUSE, situated in the closed, consisting of late nineteenth-century townhouses northern facade of the Praediniussingel, built in 1891 on commission of A.H. Description The building is erected on a rectangular ground plan and consists of a basement with three storeys under a truncated hipped roof, covered with black Frisian corrugated tiles. A broad wooden roof dormer of later date has been inserted in the front roof section. The front facade is three bays wide and erected in reddish-brown brick; the western entrance bay projects slightly. The facade masonry is enlivened with stucco sill bands. The storeys are terminated by a stucco cornice. A hard stone flight of six steps leads over the basement faced with hard stone to the porch, which is closed by a round arch. In the porch, wooden doors with fanlights carved in neo-Mannerist style have been placed. The balcony above rests on Doric columns. Around the balcony doors an aedicula arrangement has been installed. The opening balcony doors have paired round arches. The remaining windows are squared and have round-arched and segmented arch relieving arches. The arch drums are filled with terracotta, decorated with scrollwork and leafwork. The windows on the second storey are closed with stretches and stucco ashlar blocks and keystones. The facade is terminated by a cornice with mirror panels, which carries a moulded gutter.
