Introduction DOUBLE MANSION, situated in the predominantly late nineteenth-century building work closed eastern facade wall of the Westersingel, built in 1887 on the commission of H.J. Dopheide in a sober, eclectic building style. The building is presently in use as an office and has been internally adapted accordingly. Description The building is erected on a rectangular plan and comprises three storeys under two separate transverse-placed hipped roofs, laid with corrugated Dutch tiles. The six bay-wide front facade has a compressed ground floor which is provided with bossed imitation rustication blocks and a plastered breast panel. Below the slightly arched windows breast panels with mirrors. The ground floor is finished with a heavy stucco cordon moulding. The storeys are erected in reddish-brown brick. Between the first and second storey a moulded cordon moulding. The slightly arched windows have glazing bars; the second storey has T-windows. The facade is finished with a wooden cornice with moulded wooden gutter. Valuation DOUBLE MANSION, dating from the last quarter of the nineteenth century, of general importance on account of its cultural-historical and architectural-historical value and on account of the architectural integrity of the exterior.
