Inleiding WOONHUIS MET JONGERE WINKELPUI, gesitueerd op de hoek van de Hereweg en de Rabenhauptstraat, gebouwd in 1876 in opdracht van H. Meijer in een rijk versierde, eclectische bouwstijl. De winkelpui met Art Nouveau-elementen werd aangebracht in 1907 in opdracht van G.B. Wortelboer. In 1972 werd een nieuwe dakkapel in het voordakschild geplaatst en werden de bestaande pannen vervangen door zwart geglazuurde opnieuw verbeterde Hollandse pannen. De deur in de zij-ingang aan de Rabenhauptstraat is vernieuwd. Ondanks deze wijzigingen heeft het gebouw zijn monumentale karakter goed behouden. Het gebouw is thans in gebruik als winkel met bovenwoning. Omschrijving Het forse gebouw is opgetrokken op een rechthoekige, diepe plattegrond en telt twee bouwlagen onder een schilddak met twee schoorstenen, belegd met zwart geglazuurde opnieuw verbeterde Hollandse pannen. De gevels worden afgesloten door een houten kroonlijst met een geprofileerde bakgoot. In het zijschild twee gestucte dakkapellen met gesneden houten ajour daklijst. De vier (raam)traveeën brede voorgevel en de negen (raam)traveeën brede zijgevel zijn opgetrokken uit rode baksteen. De achtergevel is witgepleisterd en voorzien van schijnvoegen. De symmetrische winkelpui heeft een hardstenen borstwering waarin de tekst 'Comestibles en grutterschwaren' is verwerkt en wordt aan weerszijden afgesloten door houten pilasters waarvan de linkertop is versierd met een druiventros en de rechter met een worst en een mes. Alle vensters zijn segmentboogvormig gesloten en hebben geprofileerd stuc lijstwerk met rijk versierde kuiven. In de zijgevel hebben de meeste ramen nog de oorspronkelijke zesruitsroedeverdeling. Boven de zij-ingang met extra brede kuif een opmerkelijk vormgegeven blind venster met in- en uitzwenkend stuc lijstwerk. Introduction RESIDENTIAL BUILDING WITH YOUNGER SHOPFRONT, situated at the corner of the Hereweg and the Rabenhauptstraat, built in 1876 on the commission of H. Description The substantial building is erected on a rectangular, deep floor plan and comprises two storeys under a hipped roof with two chimneys, covered with black glazed newly improved Dutch tiles. The facades are finished with a wooden cornice with a profiled gutter. In the roof slope two plastered roof dormers with carved wooden openwork roof edge. The four-bay wide front facade and the nine-bay wide side facade are built of red brick. The rear facade is whitewashed and provided with false joints. The symmetrical shopfront has a stone foundation with the text 'Comestibles en grutterschwaren' worked into it and is closed on both sides by wooden pilasters, of which the left top is decorated with a bunch of grapes and the right with a sausage and a knife. All windows are closed with segmental arches and have profiled stucco moulding with richly decorated cornices. In the side facade most windows still have the original six-pane glazing bars. Above the side entrance with an extra wide cornice a remarkably designed blind window with in- and out-swelling stucco moulding.
