Inleiding VILLA, vrijstaand gesitueerd in het Zuiderpark en gebouwd in 1881 blijkens een stichtingssteen naast de ingang in opdracht van M. v. S. in een rijk gedecoreerde, laat negentiende-eeuwse eclectische bouwstijl. Het terrein wordt gedeeltelijk omsloten door een laat negentiende-eeuws ijzeren hekwerk. Het gebouw is thans in gebruik als kantoor en daartoe inwendig aangepast. Omschrijving Het gebouw is opgetrokken op een vierkante plattegrond uit roodbruine baksteen en bestaat uit een verdiept souterrain en twee bouwlagen onder een afgeknot schilddak, dat belegd is met zinken losanges. Het souterrain met rechtgesloten vensters is bekleed met hardsteen. De noord- en westgevel risaleren over twee traveeën. De hoeken van de westgevel en het risaliet zijn voorzien van gestucte hoekblokken. In het ingangsrisaliet bevindt zich een moderne glazen toegangsdeur met hardstenen stoep in portiek met stuc pilasters aan weerszijden onder een rondboog en een balkon op bewerkte consoles. De vensters op de bel-etage zijn gesloten met rondbogen in stuc onder een architraaf op consoles. De hardstenen vensterbanken rusten op hardstenen consoles en hebben een facet-vormige borstwering van natuursteen. De verdiepingsvensters zijn rechtgesloten en omlijst met geprofileerd stucwerk met architraven, tympanen en akroteria. De hardstenen vensterbanken rusten op consoles. Introduction VILLA, situated detached in the Zuiderpark and built in 1881 as evidenced by a foundation stone beside the entrance commissioned by M. v. S. in a richly decorated, late nineteenth-century eclectic building style. The site is partly enclosed by late nineteenth-century iron fencing. The building is now in use as an office and has been internally adapted for this purpose. Description The building is constructed on a square plan from reddish-brown brick and consists of a sunken basement and two storeys under a truncated hipped roof, covered with zinc lozenges. The basement with straight-topped windows is clad with stone. The north and west facades project over two bays. The corners of the west facade and the risalit are provided with stuccoed corner blocks. In the entrance risalit is located a modern glazed entrance door with stone step in a portico with stucco pilasters on either side under a round arch and a balcony on worked consoles. The windows on the bel-etage are closed with round arches in stucco under an architrave on consoles. The stone window sills rest on stone consoles and have a faceted breastwork of natural stone. The storey windows are straight-topped and framed with profiled stucco work with architraves, tympana and acroteria. The stone window sills rest on consoles.
