Inleiding
Nederlands Hervormde KERK gebouwd in 1853 in een classicistisch georiënteerde Waterstaatsstijl. Stichtingssteen in voorgevel: 'Gesticht 1853. Kerkvoogden Roelof Hagting, Remmelt Haange, Lens Beyring'. De kerk is in 1975 in opdracht van de kerkenraad door Bureau Monumentenzorg van de provincie Drenthe gerestaureerd. Daarbij werden onder meer de (half-) zuilen in Dorische orde en een nieuwe kroonluchter geplaatst. Vermeldenswaardig is de achter de kerk gelegen begraafplaats; deze is echter van lokaal belang.
Omschrijving
Zaalkerk van vijf traveeën gebaseerd op rechthoekige grondslag en opgetrokken in baksteen; gedekt door een zadeldak belegd met hollandse pannen. Opbouw zijgevel met spaarvelden voor de rondboogvensters met gietijzeren roedeverdeling; natuurstenen vensterbanken; staafankers. De eerste travee heeft hoge rondboogvensters ten behoeve van de ontvangstruimte en de vergaderzaal op de verdieping. De symmetrisch ingedeelde voorgevel heeft een risaliserende middenpartij bestaande uit dubbele paneeldeuren, rondboog bovenlicht; houten waterlijst; gietijzeren rondboograam; torenspits met een met lei bedekte schacht, opengewerkte achtkantige spits met leibedekking. Klokkenstoel met klok van een anonieme gieter, 1422, diam. 52,5 cm.
INTERIEUR: een met trekstangen uitgevoerd tongewelf met ornament in stucwerk; plavuizen op de grond. Sobere inrichting met preekstoel (veelhoekige kuip rustend op bol en kolom; klankbord), houten kerkbanken, houten lambrisering, houten achterwand waarboven balkon.

Dutch Reformed CHURCH built in 1853 in a classicistically oriented Public Works style. Foundation stone in front facade: 'Founded 1853. Church Wardens Roelof Hagting, Remmelt Haange, Lens Beyring'. The church was restored in 1975 on commission of the church council by the Bureau Monumentenzorg of the province of Drenthe. Among other things, the (semi-) columns in Doric order and a new chandelier were placed. Noteworthy is the cemetery located behind the church; however, this is of local significance only.
Description
Hall church of five bays based on rectangular ground plan and built in brick; covered by a gabled roof tiled with Dutch tiles. Construction of side facade with spandrels for the round-arch windows with cast-iron glazing bars; natural stone window sills; staafankers. The first bay has tall round-arch windows for the reception area and meeting room on the upper floor. The symmetrically arranged front facade has a projecting central section consisting of double panelled doors, round-arch fanlight; wooden drip moulding; cast-iron round-arch window; tower spire with a shaft covered with slate, open-worked octagonal spire with slate covering. Bell frame with bell by an anonymous founder, 1422, diam. 52.5 cm.
INTERIOR: a barrel vault executed with tie-rods with ornament in stucco work; tiled flooring. Austere interior with pulpit (polygonal bowl resting on knob and column; sounding board), wooden pews, wooden wainscoting, wooden rear wall above which balcony.
