Omschrijving
TIMMERWERKPLAATS. De bakstenen houtloods uit 1891 op rechthoekige grondslag is overkapt met een met rode pannen gedekt zadeldak, dat voorzien is van een ornamentele daklijst. Centraal aan de noordzijde de entree, bestaande uit een houten dubbele rondboogpoort met siersmeedijzeren beslag en strek van rode en gele klinkers; de strek wordt door een sluitsteen onderbroken waarop de stichtingsdatum van de loods: "1891". Aan weerszijden een rondboogvormig venster met 14-ruitsindeling en een strek van rode en gele klinkers. De gevel wordt door een ook aan de zijgevels en achtergevel omgaande kordonlijst geleed, samengesteld uit twee banden van gele strekken met ertussen en eronder elkaar afwisselende gele en rode liggende klinker- koppen. In de topgevel een rechthoekig dubbel luik van schuine delen met siersmeedijzeren beslag en met getoogd dubbel bovenlicht met een geleding door haaks op de delen van het luik staande schuine roeden in acht ruiten. Het luik is voorzien van een strek van rode en gele klinkers. Voor de noordgevel een bestrating van rode en gele klinkers, gevat in een patroon van een halve cirkel met straalsgewijs hierop geplaatste vakken.
De zuidgevel van de werkplaats vertoont centraal een klein rond blindvenster met aan weerszijden een deur onder segmentboog.
De zijgevels worden in vakken geleed door houten staanders op zandstenen poeren, die de kap ondersteunen. Daar waar de zijvakken tot de kap zijn doorgetrokken, reiken de muurvlakken van de vier middelste vakken tot het niveau van de kordonlijst. Erboven zijn deze vakken voor de ontluchting van de schuur opengehouden. In de twee middelste en de twee zijvakken een rondboogvormig venster met 14-ruitsindeling en een strek van rode en gele klinkers. In de twee overige vakken een roosvenster.
Alle gevelopeningen hebben strekken met aanzet- en sluitsteentjes en onderdorpels van Bentheimer zandsteen. De werkplaats is vermoedelijk door de Engelse architect Samuel Weatherly ontworpen.

Description
CARPENTRY WORKSHOP. The brick timber shed from 1891 on a rectangular foundation is roofed with a gabled roof covered in red tiles, furnished with an ornamental cornice. Central to the north side is the entrance, consisting of a wooden double round-arched gate with ornamental ironwork and a stretcher of red and yellow bricks; the stretcher is interrupted by a keystone on which the foundation date of the shed is inscribed: "1891". On either side a round-arched window with 14-pane glazing and a stretcher of red and yellow bricks. The facade is articulated by a cordon band also running along the side elevations and rear elevation, composed of two bands of yellow stretchers with alternating yellow and red horizontal brick headers between and below. In the gable a rectangular double shutter of sloped panels with ornamental ironwork and with arched double fanlight with glazing bars arranged perpendicular to the shutter panels creating eight panes. The shutter is furnished with a stretcher of red and yellow bricks. In front of the north facade a paving of red and yellow bricks, set in a pattern of a semicircle with radiating compartments placed upon it.
The south elevation of the workshop shows centrally a small round blind window with on either side a door under a segmental arch.
The side elevations are articulated into bays by wooden posts on sandstone piers, which support the roof truss. Where the side bays extend to the roof, the wall surfaces of the four middle bays reach the level of the cordon band. Above these bays are left open for ventilation of the shed. In the two middle and the two side bays a round-arched window with 14-pane glazing and a stretcher of red and yellow bricks. In the two other bays a rosette window.
All facade openings have stretchers with setting and closing stones and sills of Bentheimer sandstone. The workshop was presumably designed by the English architect Samuel Weatherly.
