Inleiding
HOSPITAAL gelegen op het voormalige ziekenhuisterrein. Gebouwd in 1893 in opdracht van het Ministerie van Justitie naar ontwerp van W.C. Metzelaar. In de topgevel boven de entree de naam Vertrouw op God. In 1920-1922 werd aan de achterzijde een uitbreiding met plat dak gerealiseerd. Ten zuiden van het gebouw bevindt zich een symmetrisch aangelegde tuin.
Omschrijving
Sober en functioneel vormgegeven gebouw met enkele decoratieve details. Het uit baksteen opgetrokken gebouw omvat twee ruime bouwlagen en wordt gedekt door een met pannen belegd zadeldak met steekkappen; geprofileerde gootlijst; fries met siermetselwerk en triglyphen; rechthoekige gietijzeren hemelwaterafvoer. Symmetrisch ingedeelde voorgevel; grote, deels openslaande 16-ruits ramen waarvan de stijlen zijn voorzien van snijwerk, sierankers, verzonken tandlijsten, natuurstenen vensterbanken, vooruitspringend middenstuk met in topgevel gepleisterde segmentboog met ornamenten. Westelijke gevel met entree, dubbel gepaneelde deur met 8-ruits bovenlicht met stijl en daarboven ontlastingsboog met siermetselwerk, topgevel met naamsaanduiding in segmentboog. Noordelijke gevel met toevoerruimte kelder, grote 6-ruitsramen met ontlastingsboog, uitbouw met lessenaardak (toiletten) en steekkap. Oostelijke gevel blind met zolderluik.

Description
Sober and functionally designed building with some decorative details. The building, constructed in brick, comprises two spacious storeys and is covered by a gabled roof laid with tiles with roof tiles; moulded gutter; frieze with ornamental brickwork and triglyphs; rectangular cast-iron rainwater drainage. Symmetrically arranged front facade; large, partly opening 16-pane windows with styles provided with carved work, ornamental wall anchors, recessed tooth mouldings, natural stone window sills, projecting central section with rendered segmental arch with ornaments in end gable. Western facade with entrance, double panelled door with 8-pane fanlight with style and above it a relieving arch with ornamental brickwork, end gable with name designation in segmental arch. Northern facade with cellar inlet, large 6-pane windows with relieving arch, extension with catslide roof (toilets) and roof tile. Eastern facade blind with attic hatch.
