Inleiding
Blok van twee WONINGEN gebouwd in opdracht van het Ministerie van Justitie voor de huismeester van het hospitaal. Het huis met midden in de voorgevel de naam Controle is in 1905 gebouwd naar ontwerp van W.C. Metzelaar en is een variant van woningtype IV en V; het is functioneel zowel als visueel sterk verbonden met het Hospitaal (Hospitaallaan 16).
Omschrijving
Evenwijdig aan de weg gelegen twee bouwlagen tellend gebouw op rechthoekige plattegrond. Het geheel is uit baksteen opgetrokken in een sobere en functionele stijl en wordt gedekt door een aan een zijde doorgetrokken zadeldak met pannen en windveren; schoorsteen in voorste dakschild; eenvoudig geprofileerde goot; staafankers. De symmetrisch ingedeelde voorgevel heeft licht getoogde vensters (oorspronkelijk 12-ruits schuiframen) met persiennes, natuurstenen vensterbanken, paarsgewijs geplaatste 4-ruits steekramen.
Inspringend portaal in het midden met scheef geplaatste entree, latei op natuurstenen consoles, segmentboog met in spaarveld naam. Aanbouw zijgevel met lessenaardak.
Waardering

The symmetrically arranged front facade has slightly arched windows (originally 12-pane sash windows) with shutters, natural stone window sills, paired 4-pane casement windows.
