Inleiding
Evenwijdig aan de weg gelegen WOONHUIS met SCHUUR, geheten Rustica en gebouwd in 1859-1860 in een traditionele sobere vormgeving. De bescherming betreft het oorspronkelijke woonhuis en de hoofdvorm van de schuur. De buiten de bescherming vallende uitbreidingen betreffen het kantoorgedeelte uit 1933 voor notaris E. Posthuma; de in 1939 door J. Boelens Kzn uitgevoerde kantoorruimte voor notaris G. Westerhoff; een uitbreiding uit 1966 voor M. Buining en de (interne) verbouwing uit 1979 waarbij het kantoorgedeelte bij het woonhuis werd betrokken.
Omschrijving
Op rechthoekige grondslag gebaseerd en in gepleisterde baksteen opgetrokken woonhuis, bestaande uit een bouwlaag en gedekt door een zadeldak met steekkap; schoorstenen.
Gevelopbouw: plint, pleisterwerk met schijnvoegen; cordonlijst; licht getoogde en van persiennes voorziene 6- ruits ramen; topgevels met rondboogvensters met daarin gekoppelde rondboogramen. Symmetrisch ingedeelde hoofdgevel met entree (deur en luifel van jongere datum) met bovenlicht. Noordgevel met keldervenster voorzien van diefijzers.
De schuur is opgetrokken in baksteen en gedekt door een aan een zijde afgewolfd zadeldak belegd met pannen. De topgevel is gepleisterd en heeft een licht getoogde inrijdeur met aan weerszijden en in de top een rondboogvenster met gekoppelde rondboogramen.
Waardering
Woonhuis Rustica is van cultuurhistorisch belang vanwege de specifieke ontwikkeling van villa-achtige bebouwing en van architectuurhistorisch belang vanwege de vormgeving en de voor Drenthe (relatieve) zeldzaamheid.

Description
Dwelling based on a rectangular ground plan and constructed in rendered brick, consisting of one storey and covered by a gabled roof with steeple cap; chimneys.
Facade: plinth, plasterwork with scored joints; string course; slightly arched 6-pane windows with blinds; gables with semicircular windows containing paired semicircular lights. Symmetrically arranged main facade with entrance (door and canopy of later date) with fanlight. North facade with cellar window provided with security bars.
The barn is constructed in brick and covered by a gabled roof curved at one side and laid with tiles. The gable is rendered and has a slightly arched loading door with on either side and at the top a semicircular window with paired semicircular lights.
Valuation
Dwelling Rustica is of cultural-historical significance by virtue of the specific development of villa-like building and of architectural-historical significance by virtue of its design and the (relative) rarity for Drenthe.
