TRANSFORMATORHUIS van het Energiebedrijf Groningen/Drenthe, karakteristiek gelegen in het beschermde gezicht van Vries nabij de hervormde kerk. Dit type is gebouwd rond 1920 en ontworpen door de bedrijfsbouwkundige in typische Interbellum Stijl. Omschrijving
In lichte en donkere baksteen opgetrokken rechthoekig gebouwtje gedekt door een met Tuile-du-Nord-pannen belegd zadeldak; gekoppelde houten korbelen ter ondersteuning van het overstek. Enigszins taps toelopende plint van baksteen; opbouw met sober decoratief metselwerk in zijgevel en topgevels; smeedijzeren sierankers en gekoppelde ventilatieroosters in topgevel. Stalen deuren met beslag; oostgevel met aan weerskanten van de deur smalle vensters met glastegels; latei.

Rectangular small building built of light and dark brick, covered by a saddle roof laid with Tuile-du-Nord tiles; coupled wooden corbels in support of the overhang. Slightly tapering brick plinth; superstructure with sober decorative brickwork in side facade and gables; wrought-iron ornamental anchors and coupled ventilation grilles in gable. Steel doors with fittings; east facade with narrow windows with glass tiles on either side of the door; lintel.
Valuation
Transformer station of cultural-historical importance because of a specific functional development, of architectural-historical importance because of its design, industrial-archaeological value, integrity and recognisability. The small building is also of urban-planning importance as an essential component of the protected character area of Vries.
