Inleiding
Vrijstaande villa uit 1928, ontworpen door architect D. Roosenburg in opdracht van de familie Van Wulfften Palthe. De villa is gebouwd in Engelse landhuisstijl met invloeden van de Nieuwe Haagse School en genaamd Het Weide Huis.
Omschrijving
Villa op nagenoeg vierkante plattegrond, bestaande uit twee bouwlagen onder een uitzonderlijk hoog en steil samengestelde kap, onder meer met wolfseinden. Het dak is gedekt met leipannen en bezit hoge gemetselde hoekschoorstenen en verschillende dakkapellen. Aan de achterzijde is een souterrain, ontstaan door de helling waartegen het huis is gebouwd. De gevels zijn van baksteen. De deels driedelige vensters bezitten zware houten kozijnen en stalen ramen. De ingang is in het midden van de voorgevel gesitueerd, bestaande uit een geprofileerde houten deur onder een brede luifel. Ervoor is een bordes met een hoge gemetselde borstwering. Op de rechterhoek van de voorgevel bevindt zich een lage ronde erkeruitbouw. Het trappenhuis is tegen de rechterzijgevel uitgebouwd, onder een schilddak dat het hoofddak doorsnijdt. Hier bevindt zich een zij-ingang met bordes en hoge borstwering, bereikbaar via een gemetselde trap. Tegen de linkerzijgevel is een tweede bordes met borstwering, eveneens bereikbaar via een gemetselde trap. Erboven is een balkon met borstwering. Aan de achtergevel bevinden zich een halfronde erkeruitbouw en een terras met pergola, vanuit de tuin bereikbaar via een gebogen gemetselde trap langs de erker. Onder het terras is de garage gesitueerd, waarvan de deuren in de rechterzijgevel zijn geplaatst.
Goed bewaard interieur, met onder meer vestibule met tegelvloer en figuratieve tegels in oud-Hollandse trant, hal met parketvloer, trap met bewerkte leuning en deuren met authentiek hang- en sluitwerk. De tuin wordt van de straat gescheiden door een bakstenen tuinmuur.
Waardering
Pand van architectuurhistorische waarde als gaaf voorbeeld van een villa in Engelse landhuisstijl met invloeden van de Nieuwe Haagse School architectuur; hoofdvorm, materiaalgebruik, detaillering en interieur zijn goed bewaard. Een toegevoegde waarde vormt de belangrijke stedebouwkundige ligging op de glooiing van de duinrug naar het Westbroekpark.

The entrance is located in the middle of the front facade, consisting of a moulded wooden door under a broad canopy. In front of it is a raised entrance platform with a high built-up parapet. On the right corner of the front facade is a low round bay extension. The staircase is built out against the right side facade, under a hipped roof that intersects the main roof. Here is a side entrance with entrance platform and high parapet, accessible via a built-up staircase. Against the left side facade is a second entrance platform with parapet, also accessible via a built-up staircase. Above it is a balcony with parapet. On the rear facade are a half-round bay extension and a terrace with pergola, accessible from the garden via a curved built-up staircase along the bay.
