Vrijstaand flatgebouw uit 1936-1938, gebouwd door architect Jan Wils in zakelijk-expressionistische stijl - met verwantschap met het werk van W.M. Dudok en S. van Ravesteyn - en genaamd Dennehove.
Omschrijving
Flatgebouw op rechthoekige plattegrond, bestaande uit zes bouwlagen onder een plat dak, gecombineerd met een flauw gebogen kap met uitstekende daklijst. Het gebouw heeft een gele bakstenen bekleding met diepliggende voegen. Kenmerkend is de groepering van a-symmetrische bouwmassa's tot een evenwichtige compositie en de afwisseling van horizontale en verticale elementen, resp. gevormd door de brede vensters met stalen kozijnen en de doorgaande raampartijen van de trappenhuizen. Het horizontale en verticale element wordt verder benadrukt door de toepassing van brede balkons en smalle bovenelkaar liggende (inpandige) balkons. Ter hoogte van de begane grond rusten de uitspringende bouwmassa's op betonnen kolommen.
De gevels bevatten voorts cirkelvormige vensters, o.a. aan weerszijden van de ingang.
Aan de achterzijde en de rechterkant zijn bordessen met bakstenen balustrades en hardstenen dekplaten.
De flat is een vereenvoudigde versie van het in Den Haag in de jaren '20 en '30 veel voorkomende luxueuze woonhotel.
Waardering
Flatgebouw van architectuurhistorisch, cultuurhistorisch en typologisch belang als representatief voorbeeld van een luxueus woonhotel in zakelijk-expressionistische stijl. Hoofdvorm, detaillering en materiaal zijn goed bewaard.

Description
Apartment building on rectangular floor plan, consisting of six storeys under a flat roof, combined with a slightly curved roof with projecting roofline. The building has a yellow brick cladding with deep-set joints. Characteristic is the grouping of a-symmetrical building masses into a balanced composition and the alternation of horizontal and vertical elements, formed respectively by the wide windows with steel frames and the continuous window sections of the staircases. The horizontal and vertical element is further emphasised by the application of broad balconies and narrow superimposed (integrated) balconies. At ground level the projecting building masses rest on concrete columns.
The facades further contain circular windows, among others on either side of the entrance.
On the rear side and the right side are landing areas with brick balustrades and hardstone copings.
The apartment building is a simplified version of the luxurious apartment hotel much common in The Hague in the 1920s and 1930s.
Valuation
