Inleiding
Linkerhelft van dubbele vrijstaande villa uit 1920-1923, behorend tot het villapark Meer en Bosch en gebouwd in opdracht van het Bouwbureau Joh.D. v.d. Houwen naar ontwerp van de architecten J. Duiker en B. Bijvoet in cottagestijl. Latere wijzigingen zijn de toevoeging van een balkon en het dichtzetten van het overdekte terras, met behoud van het karakter van de architectuur.
Omschrijving
Villa op onregelmatige plattegrond, bestaande uit een, deels twee bouwlagen onder een rieten zadeldak. De kap is aan de rechterkant naar beneden doorgetrokken. De muren zijn van baksteen en later witgeschilderd. Aan de linkerkant van de voorgevel bevindt zich een liseen. Ter hoogte van de tweede bouwlaag is een balkon met een houten hek (later toegevoegd). De ingang is aan de rechterkant in een portiek gesitueerd, in het gedeelte dat de overgang vormt naar de aangrenzende villa Duinlaan 151.
Tegen de linkergevel bevinden zich het (dichtgezette) terras, voorzien van een rieten zadeldak en een gepotdekselde topgevel, en een brede uitgemetselde schoorsteen. Links van de schoorsteen is onder de daklijst een serie van drie vensters met zijlichten geplaatst. Tegen de achtergevel is een uitbouw, gedekt door een rieten zadeldak en een gemetselde schoorsteen. Kenmerkend voor deze architectuur is de harmonische overgang van het besloten huis naar de open natuur door middel van een overdekt terras (hier later dichtgezet) en plaatsjes met lage scheidingsmuren. De villa behorend tot het cottage-type maakt deel uit van het door J. Duiker en B. Bijvoet ontworpen villapark "Meer en Bosch". Naast het cottage-type komt hier ook het op de stijl van Frank Lloyd Wright geinspireerde landhuis voor. Het plan voor het villa-park is een goed voorbeeld van de toenmalige nieuwe filosofie over het gezond buiten wonen in de nabijheid van de stad.

Description
Villa on an irregular plan, consisting of one, partly two storeys under a thatched gabled roof. The roof is drawn down at the right-hand side. The walls are of brick and later painted white. On the left-hand side of the front facade there is a pilaster. At the level of the second storey is a balcony with a wooden railing (added later). The entrance is situated on the right-hand side in a porch, in the section that forms the transition to the adjacent villa Duinlaan 151.
Against the left-hand gable are the (closed) terrace, provided with a thatched gabled roof and a tiled top gable, and a broad brick chimney. To the left of the chimney, beneath the roof line, a series of three windows with side lights has been placed. Against the rear gable is an extension, covered by a thatched gabled roof and a brick chimney. Characteristic of this architecture is the harmonious transition of the enclosed house to the open landscape by means of a covered terrace (here later closed) and courtyards with low boundary walls. The villa belonging to the cottage type forms part of the villa park "Meer en Bosch" designed by J. Duiker and B. Bijvoet. Besides the cottage type, the country house style inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright also occurs here. The plan for the villa park is a good example of the contemporary new philosophy about healthy country living in the vicinity of the city.
