Herenhuis uit ca. 1885, gebouwd in opdracht van Jean Antoine de Vassy, oud-kapitein der infanterie, door architect C.J. van Roode in eclectische stijl.
Omschrijving
Herenhuis op rechthoekige plattegrond, bestaande uit een gedrukte begane grond en twee verdiepingen onder een met leien gedekt afgeknot schilddak, drie vensterassen breed. De gevel is van baksteen en voorzien van gepleisterde banden. Tegen de begane grond is een geblokte bepleistering aangebracht op een geprofileerde hardstenen plint. De bouwlagen worden van elkaar gescheiden door gepleisterde waterlijsten. De middenas is als risaliet behandeld en bezit op de eerste verdieping een houten erker op rijk bewerkte consoles met maskerkoppen. De erker is aan de onderzijde voorzien van panelen met uitgespaarde hoekjes en kussens in het midden, en wordt bekroond door een balkon met gietijzeren sierhek. De ingang is in de linkeras gesitueerd, en bestaat uit een paneeldeur met verticale vensters (niet uit de bouwtijd). De licht getoogde schuifvensters bezitten T-kozijnen en worden op de verdiepingen omlijst door gepleisterde pilasters; op de eerste verdieping bezitten de vensters aan de onderzijde gietijzeren hekjes en een bekroning met een driehoekig fronton, en op de tweede bouwlaag zijn de vensters voorzien van een rechte kroonlijst.
Het venster in het risaliet op de tweede verdieping heeft openslaande ramen die op het balkon uitkomen en een door een dubbele stijl vertikaal gedeeld bovenlicht.
Het hoofdgestel is gekornist en bestaat uit een geprofileerde waterlijst, een tegelfries met plantaardige motieven en een kroonlijst op houten klossen.
Het dak bevat boven het risalietdeel een dakkapel met pilasters en driehoekig fronton.
Goed bewaard interieur; vestibule met panelen en stucplafond, een trap met balustrade en eindbaluster in eclectische stijl, een tuinkamer met betimmering, stucplafond en glas-in-lood. De twee kamers op de eerste verdieping bezitten stucplafonds en marmeren schoorsteenmantels in neo-Empire stijl. Zijkamertje met rijk gepolychromeerd stucplafond in eclectische stijl.

Description
Town house on rectangular plan, consisting of a low ground floor and two upper storeys under a hipped roof covered with slate, three window bays wide. The facade is of brick and provided with plastered bands. Against the ground floor is blocked plastering applied to a moulded hardstone plinth. The storeys are separated from each other by plastered drip mouldings. The centre bay is treated as a risalit and has on the first storey a wooden oriel on richly worked consoles with mask heads. The oriel is provided at the bottom with panels with recessed corners and cushions in the middle, and is crowned by a balcony with cast-iron ornamental railings. The entrance is situated in the left bay, and consists of a panelled door with vertical windows (not from the construction period). The slightly arched sash windows have T-frames and are on the storeys framed by plastered pilasters; on the first storey the windows have cast-iron railings at the bottom and a crown with a triangular pediment, and on the second storey the windows are provided with a straight cornice.
The window in the risalit on the second storey has casement windows opening onto the balcony and a fanlight divided vertically by a double mullion.
The cornice is moulded and consists of a moulded drip moulding, a tile frieze with vegetable motifs and a cornice on wooden brackets.
The roof above the risalit section contains a dormer window with pilasters and triangular pediment.
Well-preserved interior; vestibule with panels and stucco ceiling, a staircase with balustrade and end baluster in eclectic style, a garden room with panelling, stucco ceiling and leaded glass. The two rooms on the first storey have stucco ceilings and marble fireplaces in Neo-Empire style. Small side room with richly polychrome stucco ceiling in eclectic style.
