Rechterhelft van dubbel herenhuis uit ca. 1875, gebouwd in opdracht van Antonie Hendrik Drijfhout van Hooff, waarschijnlijk door aannemer F.H. van Malsen, in een eclectische bouwstijl.
Omschrijving
Herenhuis op rechthoekige plattegrond, bestaande uit een souterrain en twee bouwlagen onder een dwars, met shingles en leien gedekt, afgeknot schilddak, drie vensterassen breed. De gevel is van rode baksteen afgewisseld met sierbanden van gele steen, en ter hoogte van het souterrain bekleed met gebosseerde hardsteen. De rechteras is als risaliet behandeld en uitgevoerd in gebosseerd metselwerk. De bouwlagen worden van elkaar gescheiden door een gepleisterde cordonlijst,waarboven een waterlijst, die in het risalietdeel rust op triglyfconsoles. De ingang, bestaande uit een zwaar geprofileerde, dubbele paneeldeur met gebeeldhouwde leeuwekoppen en koperen handgrepen, en een rijk gesneden deurkalf met het huisnummer, is in het risaliet gesitueerd. De stolpramen op de tweede bouwlaag zijn voorzien van T-kozijnen en een smeedijzeren hekje. Deur en vensters bezitten een geprofileerde omlijsting en worden op de eerste bouwlaag en in het risaliet bekroond door een driehoekig of gebogen fronton op consoles. De overige twee vensters hebben een rechte kroonlijst, eveneens op consoles, alsmede glas-in-lood bovenlichten. De souterrainvensters bezitten smeedijzeren tralies en worden aan de bovenzijde afgesloten door een zware hardstenen sluitsteen met rustica. Het hoofdgestel bezit een bakstenen fries dat wordt begrensd door een geprofileerde lijst. De kroonlijst rust in het risalietdeel op twee paarsgewijs geplaatste triglyfconsoles. Boven de kroonlijst is een houten borstwering, onderbroken door balustrades. Het dak bevat in het risalietdeel een houten dakkapel met T-kozijn en verder twee oeils-de-boeuf met gesneden omlijsting.
Het interieur bevat stucwerk en betimmeringen in een rijke neo-Lodewijk XIV- en neo-Lodewijk XVI-stijl.
Waardering
Herenhuis van architectuurhistorisch belang als representatief voorbeeld van een woonhuis in een rijke eclectische bouwstijl. Hoofdvorm, materiaal en detaillering zijn in- en uitwendig gaaf bewaard. Als helft van een dubbel herenhuis heeft het pand tevens ensemblewaarde. Een toegevoegde waarde vormt de beeldbepalende situering aan de Koninginnegracht.

Description
Mansion on rectangular ground plan, consisting of a basement and two storeys under a transverse, shingles and slate covered, hipped roof, three window bays wide. The facade is of red brick alternated with decorative bands of yellow stone, and at the level of the basement is clad with rusticated ashlar. The right bay is treated as a risalit and executed in rusticated brickwork. The storeys are separated from each other by a plastered string course, above which is a drip moulding, which in the risalit section rests on triglyphic consoles. The entrance, consisting of a heavily profiled double fielded door with sculptured lion heads and copper handles, and a richly carved door surround with the house number, is situated in the risalit. The sash windows on the second storey are provided with cross windows and a wrought-iron railing. Door and windows possess a profiled surround and on the first storey and in the risalit are crowned by a triangular or curved pediment on consoles. The remaining two windows have a straight cornice, likewise on consoles, as well as leaded fanlights. The basement windows possess wrought-iron grilles and are closed at the top by a heavy ashlar coping stone with rustication. The main entablature possesses a brick frieze that is bounded by a profiled moulding. The cornice rests in the risalit section on two pairs of triglyphic consoles. Above the cornice is a wooden balustrade, interrupted by balusters. The roof contains in the risalit section a wooden roof dormer with a cross window and further two oeils-de-boeuf with carved surrounds.
The interior contains plasterwork and panelling in a rich neo-Louis XIV and neo-Louis XVI style.
Valuation
Mansion of architectural historical importance as a representative example of a residence in a rich eclectic building style. Main form, material and detailing are well preserved inside and out. As half of a double mansion the property also has ensemble value. Added value is provided by its prominent siting on the Koninginnegracht.
