Linkerhelft van dubbel herenhuis uit ca. 1875, gebouwd in opdracht van Petrus Joseph de Sonnaville, waarschijnlijk door aannemer F.H. van Malsen, in een eclectische bouwstijl.
Omschrijving
Herenhuis op rechthoekige plattegrond, bestaande uit een souterrain en twee bouwlagen onder een dwars, met leien shingles gedekt, afgeknot schilddak, drie vensterassen breed. De gevel is van rode baksteen afgewisseld met sierbanden van gele steen, en ter hoogte van het souterrain bekleed met gebosseerde hardsteen. De linkeras is als risaliet behandeld en uitgevoerd in gebosseerd metselwerk. De bouwlagen worden van elkaar gescheiden door een gepleisterde cordonlijst, waarboven een waterlijst, die in het risalietdeel rust op triglyfconsoles. De ingang, bestaande uit een zwaar geprofileerde, dubbele paneeldeur met koperen handgrepen en leeuwekoppen, siersmeedwerk aan de binnenkant en een rijk gesneden deurkalf met het huisnummer, is in het risaliet gesitueerd. De stolpramen zijn voorzien van T-kozijnen; in het risaliet gewijzigd in een ondiep uitgebouwd kozijn. Deur en vensters bezitten een geprofileerde omlijsting en worden op de eerste bouwlaag en in het risaliet bekroond door een driehoekig of gebogen fronton op consoles. De overige twee vensters hebben een rechte kroonlijst, eveneens op consoles. De vensters van de tweede bouwlaag hebben voorzetramen. De souterrainvensters bezitten smeedijzeren tralies en worden aan de bovenzijde afgesloten door een zware hardstenen sluitsteen met rustica. Het hoofdgestel bezit een bakstenen fries dat wordt begrensd door een geprofileerde lijst en dat is voorzien van twee rechthoekige vensters. De kroonlijst rust in het risalietdeel op twee triglyfconsoles. Boven de kroonlijst is een houten borstwering, onderbroken door balustrades. Het dak bevat in het risalietdeel een houten dakkapel met T-kozijn dat de kroonlijst doorsnijdt, en een oeil-de-boeuf.
De dakkapel heeft aan weerszijden voluutvormig gesneden wangen en een gebogen fronton. Voorts bevinden zich in het dak twee oeils-de-boeuf met gesneden omlijsting.

Description
Mansion on rectangular ground plan, consisting of a basement and two storeys under a transverse, slate-shingled, hipped roof, three window bays wide. The facade is of red brick alternated with decorative bands of yellow stone, and at the level of the basement is clad with rusticated ashlar. The left bay is treated as a risalit and executed in rusticated brickwork. The storeys are separated from each other by a plastered string course, above which is a drip moulding, which in the risalit section rests on triglyphic consoles. The entrance, consisting of a heavily profiled double fielded door with copper handles and lion heads, ornamental wrought ironwork on the inside and a richly carved door surround with the house number, is situated in the risalit. The sash windows are provided with cross windows; in the risalit altered to a shallow projecting window frame. Door and windows possess a profiled surround and on the first storey and in the risalit are crowned by a triangular or curved pediment on consoles. The remaining two windows have a straight cornice, likewise on consoles. The windows of the second storey have removable window frames. The basement windows possess wrought-iron grilles and are closed at the top by a heavy ashlar coping stone with rustication. The main entablature possesses a brick frieze that is bounded by a profiled moulding and is provided with two rectangular windows. The cornice rests in the risalit section on two triglyphic consoles. Above the cornice is a wooden balustrade, interrupted by balusters. The roof contains in the risalit section a wooden roof dormer with a cross window that cuts through the cornice, and an oeil-de-boeuf.
The roof dormer has scroll-shaped carved brackets on either side and a curved pediment. Furthermore, there are two oeils-de-boeuf in the roof with carved surrounds.
Valuation
Mansion of architectural historical importance as a representative example of a residence in a rich eclectic building style. Main form, material and detailing are well preserved. As half of a double mansion the property also has ensemble value. Added value is provided by its prominent siting on the Koninginnegracht.
