Inleiding
WOONHUIS gebouwd in 1908 naar ontwerp van Joh. D. Meppelink in opdracht van Gerson Levie. Het aan de straat gelegen woonhuis is gebouwd in Overgangsstijl met Art Nouveau stijl-motieven. Gevelsteen met C. Levie 1908 naast de entree en op de hoektoren de naam Marie.
Omschrijving.
Samengesteld bouwvolume met twee bouwlagen en een verdieping onder een samengesteld schilddak belegd met Tuile du Nord pannen; pironnen; windveren, zinken hanggoot en deels geprofileerde goot op bewerkte klossen. Gevelopbouw met een gepleisterde plint, baksteen, gele bakstenen banden en vensters van diverse afmetingen met lateien, sommige met glas-in-lood, hanekammen of boogvelden. Hoektoren met een ingesnoerde spits met leibedekking; onderlangs de spits een eenvoudig fries waarin opgenomen de bewerkte houten klossen. Een typisch Art Nouveau-element is de hoefijzervormige loggia op de verdieping met smeedijzeren sierhekwerk als borstwering. Aan de voor- en zijgevel een van houtsnijwerk voorziene veranda met entree respectievelijk een (deels gewijzigde) veranda; in de zijgevel voorts een glas-in-lood raam ter plaatse van het trappenhuis.
Waardering
Het woonhuis is van cultuurhistorisch belang als essentieel onderdeel van het complex Kasteel 6-8. Mede door zijn vormgeving maar ook door zijn ligging is het van stedebouwkundig belang in relatie tot het te beschermen stadsgezicht. Architectuurhistorisch is het van belang als goed voorbeeld van de Overgangsstijl met Art Nouveau-motieven en vanwege de gaafheid.

Compound building volume with two storeys and a floor under a compound hipped roof tiled with Tuile du Nord tiles; hip tiles; wind tiles, zinc gutter and partly moulded gutter on worked corbels. Facade composition with a plastered plinth, brick, yellow brick bands and windows of various sizes with lintels, some with stained glass, cock-heads or arch fields. Corner tower with an indented spire with slate cladding; below the spire a simple frieze in which are incorporated the worked wooden corbels. A typical Art Nouveau element is the horseshoe-shaped loggia on the floor with wrought-iron decorative railings as balustrade. On the front and side facade a veranda furnished with wood carvings with entrance respectively a (partly altered) veranda; in the side facade furthermore a stained glass window at the location of the stairwell.
Valuation
The dwelling house is of cultural-historical importance as an essential component of the complex Kasteel 6-8. Through its design but also through its location it is of urban-planning importance in relation to the protected streetscape. Architecturally it is important as a good example of the Transition style with Art Nouveau motifs and because of its integrity.
