The register's description

Inleiding.

Introduction.

Detached villa from 1899, built in transitional architecture by architect J. Limburg and named Villa Anna. NB. The extension from 1977 and the footbridge to Scheveningseweg 50 are excluded from protection. Description.

Property on a rectangular plan consisting of ground floor and first floor under a composite roof truss structure, two bays wide. The villa is built up from building volumes of varying heights, closed by overhanging roof truss structures. The facades are of brick with many components executed in natural stone. The gutters rest on thin curved iron consoles. The right bay is slightly projecting and is closed by a low loggia with a natural stone arcade, above which an overhanging roof truss structure. The monumental portico with stone barrel vault, surrounded by natural stone semicircular arches is striking. Two staircases lead on either side to the portico. Above it is a broad balcony, closed by a natural stone railing. Waterspouts are placed at the corners and in the middle, as well as one at the corner of the loggia. To the left of the portico is the semicircular entrance. At the left corner of the front facade on the first floor a three-quarter round bay is built out with sculptured natural stone base, which rests on a half-column. The bay is furnished with elongated leaded glass windows and is closed by a round tent roof with finial. Behind left is a second entrance, situated in a small porch with two semicircular arches, under a mansard roof. The windows have fanlights partly with vertical glazing bars, closed by a natural stone lintel; in the left side facade there are three three-light windows in the middle building volume above one another, of which the lower two are placed stepwise in the facade. Below the roof line of this section is a series of small rectangular windows. The central section of the right facade is built up to a stepped gable in which a three-sided built-out wooden bay and a window, united under natural stone arches. On the ground floor there is a half-round bay in the middle with leaded glass. In the interior an oak staircase in the stairwell with wooden wainscoting and panelled doors, and a marble floor have been preserved. Valuation.

Villa of architectural historical value as a representative example of a late 19th-century villa in transitional architecture. Main form, detailing, applied material and the stairwell are well preserved.
