Rijk met beeldhouwwerk versierd poortgebouw dat toegang biedt tot de binnenplaats. De rondboogpoort wordt omlijst door Ionische halfzuilen waarvan de schachten met banden zijn versierd, die een hoofdgestel dragen. In de boogzwikken bevinden zich medaillons van Homerus en Archimedes als vertegenwoordigers van de richtingen taal- en letterkunde en wis- en natuurkunde. Op het hoofdgestel zitten twee godinnen die een hardstenen plaquette flankeren, vervaardigd door de Haagse beeldhouwer August Alexander en voorzien van een Latijnse tekst. In het tympaan daarboven is de Haagse ooievaar afgebeeld. Bovenin de gevel staat in een nis een beeld van de godin Pallas Athene. De nis wordt omlijst door Ionische pilasters en bekroond door een gebroken, gebogen fronton. De poortdoorgang wordt gedekt door een bakstenen netgewelf en heeft een fraai smeedijzeren hek. Aan de achterzijde bezit het poortgebouw een driezijdig uitgebouwde traptoren. De scheiding met de Laan van Meerdervoort wordt gevormd door een smeedijzeren hekwerk tussen gemetselde pijlers met natuurstenen banden en geprofileerde dekplaten. Aan de rechterkant wordt het terrein afgesloten door een bakstenen tuinmuur met steunberen, gedekt door geprofileerde dekplaten. Aan de linkerkant is een ijzeren hekwerk. Waardering.

Gateway building richly decorated with sculpture that provides access to the courtyard. The round-arch gate is framed by Ionic half-columns whose shafts are decorated with bands, which carry an entablature. In the arch spandrels are medallions of Homer and Archimedes as representatives of the fields of language and literature and mathematics and natural sciences. On the entablature sit two goddesses flanking a hardstone plaque, created by The Hague sculptor August Alexander and provided with a Latin text. In the tympanum above is the Hague stork depicted. At the top of the facade stands in a niche a statue of the goddess Pallas Athena. The niche is framed by Ionic pilasters and crowned by a broken curved pediment. The gateway passage is covered by a brick reticulated vault and has a fine wrought-iron gate. On the rear side the gateway building has a three-sided projecting stair tower.
