Inleiding.
Herenhuis op rechthoekige plattegrond uit 1880-1881 in eclectische stijl, gebouwd door N. Spijker en G. van Wijk als onderdeel van een ensemble van vier herenhuizen.
Omschrijving.
Rechter pand van een symmetrisch ontworpen groep van vier eclectische herenhuizen, waarvan de twee middelste panden, Van Speykstraat 28 en 30, licht risalerend zijn uitgevoerd. Deze groep herenhuizen is opgenomen in een gesloten straatwand.
Het pand heeft een opbouw van gedrukte begane grond en twee hoge verdiepingen onder een met pannen gedekt schilddak met de nok loodrecht op de rooilijn en is drie vensterassen breed.
De voorgevel heeft een hardstenen plint en een parterre bekleed met geblokte bepleistering. De verdiepingen zijn in schoon metselwerk opgetrokken. Cordonlijsten tussen de bouwlagen zorgen voor een horizontale geleding. In de houten raamkozijnen zijn T-vensters met op de tweede verdieping ijzeren sierhekjes. De kroonlijst heeft rijk geornamenteerde consoles met maskers. De parterre is later gewijzigd, waarbij het venster in de linker as is vervangen door een garagedeur en de ingang in de rechter travee is gemoderniseerd. Achter de bedrijfsingang is de oorspronkelijke structuur eveneens ingrijpend gewijzigd.
Waardering.
Herenhuis van architectuurhistorisch belang als goed gedetailleerd voorbeeld van eclectische woonhuisarchitectuur. Als onderdeel van een symmetrisch opgezette groep van vier herenhuizen heeft het tevens een belangrijke ensemblewaarde.

Description.
Right building of a symmetrically designed group of four eclectic town houses, of which the two central buildings, Van Speykstraat 28 and 30, are executed projecting slightly forward. This group of town houses is incorporated in a closed street facade.
The building has a depressed ground floor and two high storeys beneath a hipped roof tiled with clay tiles, with the ridge perpendicular to the street line and is three window bays wide.
The front facade has a hardstone plinth and a ground floor clad with rusticated plasterwork. The storeys are built in fair-face brickwork. Cordon mouldings between the storeys provide horizontal articulation. In the wooden window frames are T-windows with iron ornamental railings on the second storey. The cornice has richly ornamented consoles with masks. The ground floor was later altered, whereby the window in the left bay was replaced by a garage door and the entrance in the right bay was modernised. Behind the business entrance the original structure was also substantially altered.
Valuation.
Town house of architectural historical importance as a well-detailed example of eclectic residential architecture. As part of a symmetrically arranged group of four town houses it also has significant ensemble value.
