Inleiding.
Vrijstaande villa in neo-renaissance stijl uit circa 1890 op samengestelde plattegrond. Een ijzeren tuinhek vormt de begrenzing met de straat. Het is een van een groep villa's aan de gebogen Paleisstraat, die werd aangelegd nadat de gemeente van Koning Willem III de koninklijke bezittingen achter het paleis aan de Kneuterdijk had overgenomen. Villa bestaande uit drie bouwlagen met een door leien gedekt, omlopend schilddak, vier vensterassen breed. Aan de voorzijde een brede houten dakkapel met drielichtvenster uit de bouwtijd. De met natuurstenen banden verlevendigde bakstenen voorgevel heeft vensters met geprofileerde ontlastingsbogen en decoratief metselwerk in de boogtrommels. De brede linker vensteras wordt bekroond door een trapgevel. Deurpartij in hardsteen met flankerende kolonnetten. Authentieke deur met siertraliewerk. In de voorgevel sierankers en op de beletage tegen de linker vensteras een houten erker op gemetselde consoles met hardstenen profielen. Hierboven een venster met geprofileerde driepasboog. Onder de gootlijst consoles en een boogfries. Tegen het afgeschuinde deel van de rechter- zijgevel een driezijdige erker op houten pijlers met korbelen. De vensters in de erker bezitten Art Nouveau glas-in-lood. In deze gevel voorts vensters met glas-in-lood ter hoogte van het trappenhuis. De sobere bakstenen achtergevel op verspringende rooilijn heeft houten vensters van verschillend formaat. Op de scheiding van tuin en straat een ijzeren tuinhek met versierde spijlen. Waardering.
Villa met sierhek van cultuurhistorische waarde als representatief voorbeeld van het wonen voor welgestelden aan het eind van de 19e eeuw in een stedelijk gebied.
