Inleiding.
Vrijstaand schoolgebouw met twee bijbehorende personeelswoningen, gebouwd in 1930-1933 in de Nieuwe Haagse School stijl. Het gebouw is ontworpen door J.J. Brandes en D.C. van der Zwart in 1929. Omschrijving.
Schoolgebouw op rechthoekige plattegrond, opgetrokken uit gele baksteen en bestaande uit een souterrain, drie bouwlagen en een plat dak. In het midden bevindt zich een dwarsgeplaatst en hoger opgetrokken bouwblok, waarin het centrale trappenhuis; aan de uiteinden wordt het gebouw geflankeerd door iets terugspringende, hogere hoekpaviljoens waarin eveneens trappenhuizen. Aan de linkerzijde is een gymnastiekzaal, tevens aula aangebouwd, omgeven door lagere gangen en kleedhokjes. De ingang en trap hiervan zijn gesitueerd aan de Hoefbladlaan. Een getoogde poort aan de voorzijde geeft toegang tot het souterrain. Aan de rechterkant van het schoolgebouw bevindt zich een lage aanbouw. De hoofdingang van het schoolgebouw is in het middenblok met het centrale trappenhuis gesitueerd en is bereikbaar door trappen aan de zijkanten. Rechts van de trappen is een stenen reliëf. Het trappenhuis wordt verlicht door uitspringende verticale glas-in-lood vensters in Art Deco. Getoogde poorten in het middenblok en in de zijpaviljoens geven toegang tot het souterrain. De lange gevels van de twee vleugels zijn horizontaal geleed door langgerekte vensterreeksen met doorlopende in beton uitgevoerde vensterbanken, midden- en bovendorpels. De ramen zijn voorzien van smalle ijzeren roeden. De vensterreeksen worden in beide vleugels twee maal onderbroken door erkervormige raampartijen over alle drie de bouwlagen. De betonnen vensterbanken en bovendorpels, en de daklijst worden begeleid door smalle banden van zwart gekleurde baksteen, een stilistisch kenmerk van architect Co Brandes. In de centrale hal op de begane grond bevindt zich een groot mozaïek van Anton H.J. Molkenboer, gesigneerd en gedateerd 1931- 1933 met als motto: "Heil de zon, bron van leven en geluk, die de ouderdom verwarmt, die de liefde ontsteekt, die den arbeid bevrucht, die de jeugd doet groeien." De klaslokalen bevinden zich aan de voorzijde; aan de achterzijde loopt langs de lokalen een gang.
