Omschrijving
RONDBOOGBRUG MET PIJLERS EN BALUSTRADES. Rode bakstenen en deels met mergelstenen beklede rondboogbrug over de buitengrachtt aan de entree aan de spiegelboogvormige beëindiging van het voorplein. De brug is voorzien van een stenen balustrade van kettingschalmen, die aan de uiteinden door pijlers worden geflankeerd. Op de handlijsten van de balustrades centraal een bol en tegen de pijlers een halve bol in mergelsteen. De mergelstenen pijlers aan de voorpleinzijde zijn obelisk-vormig en worden door een pijnappel bekroond. De pijlers aan de straat(Hagendorenweg-)zijde rusten op een samengesteld mergelstenen voetstuk, zijn voorts in door mergelstenen banden onderbroken rode baksteen opgetrokken en worden door een monumentaal samengesteld bovenstuk met kroonlijst en bolvormig ornamentstuk bekroond. Aansluitend aan deze pijlers een kwartcirkel-vormig uitzwenkende mergelstenen balustrade met segmentboog-vormige handlijst, die beëindigd worden door aan laatstgenoemde pijlers identieke pijlers. Tussen deze pijlers een smeedijzeren hek met pijlpunt-vormige spijlen. Aan weerszijden van deze pijlers een rode bakstenen balustrade, die het tracé van de buitengracht aan de straat(Hagendorenweg-)zijde volgt. Deze balustrade is tevens keermuur, die de straat naar de buitengracht keert. Aan de straatzijde is de balustrade met mergelblokken bekleed. Aan beide zijden van de entree wordt deze balustrade door drie aan de straatwegzijde van de brug identieke pijlers onderbroken. Aan de ZW-zijde van de entree vormt de derde pijler tevens het eindpunt van de balustrade. De balustrade aan de NO-zijde van de entree gaat over in de bakstenen balustrade en keermuur ter hoogte van de paardestallen, aan de ZO-zijde van de buitengracht. Tussen de pijlers een smeedijzeren hek met pijlpunt-vormige spijlen. Brug, pijlers en balustrades dateren uit ca. 1815.

Description
SEMI-CIRCULAR ARCH BRIDGE WITH PIERS AND BALUSTRADES. Red brick bridge, partly clad with marl stone, with a semi-circular arch over the outer moat at the entrance at the mirror arch-shaped termination of the forecourt. The bridge is provided with a stone balustrade of chain swags, which at the ends are flanked by piers. On the handrails of the balustrades centrally a ball and against the piers a half-ball in marl stone. The marl stone piers on the forecourt side are obelisk-shaped and are crowned by a pine cone. The piers on the street (Hagendorenweg) side rest on a composite marl stone base, are further raised in red brick interrupted by bands of marl stone and are crowned by a monumental composite top with cornice and ball-shaped ornamental piece. Adjacent to these piers a quarter-circle-shaped curved marl stone balustrade with segment arch-shaped handrail, which is terminated by piers identical to the lastmentioned piers. Between these piers a wrought-iron fence with arrow-point-shaped spiles. On either side of these piers a red brick balustrade, which follows the course of the outer moat on the street (Hagendorenweg) side. This balustrade is also a retaining wall, which turns the street toward the outer moat. On the street side the balustrade is clad with marl blocks. On both sides of the entrance this balustrade is interrupted by three piers identical to those on the street side of the bridge. On the SW side of the entrance the third pier also forms the end point of the balustrade. The balustrade on the NE side of the entrance passes over into the brick balustrade and retaining wall at the level of the horse stables, on the SE side of the outer moat. Between the piers a wrought-iron fence with arrow-point-shaped spiles. Bridge, piers and balustrades date from circa 1815.
