Omschrijving
Ambulance gebouwd in 1880 voor huisvesting van maximaal 16 zieken, woning voor de officier van gezondheid, apotheek en badkamers. Tot dan toe werden zieken verpleegd in een tent of afgevoerd naar een hospitaal te Kampen. In 1897 is een van de badkamers gewijzigd in een operatiekamer. Momenteel is het in gebruik door de geneeskundige dienst. Waarschijnlijk is de beschildering/bepleistering van de voorgevel van later datum. De situering van dit object is op een lijn met de officiers- en legeringsgebouwen van de eerste aanleg van dit kamp. Rechthoekige bouwmassa van twee lagen met kap en ter weerszijden een paviljoen van een laag met kap. Gevels van baksteen met een grijs gepleisterde plint. De voorgevel is gedeeltelijk wit gepleisterd, voor het overige wit geschilderd. Op de hoeken lisenen welke overgaan in een boogfries, afgezet met een rollaag van gele steen. De schildkap is bekleed met een zinken roevendak. Symmetrische gevelopbouw. De entree is omkleed met hardsteen, ter weerszijden twee vensters beëindigd met een segmentboog, met schuiframen. De zijgevels hebben boven de nok van de paviljoens een halfrond, gietijzeren raam. De paviljoens hebben in elke gevel twee gekoppelde vensters onder een segmentboog van geel metselwerk. Ook deze hebben een schilddak bekleed met zink (roevendak). De achtergevel is soberder uitgevoerd: geen boogfries en geen natuursteen omkleding van de deur. Aan de rechterzijde zijn op de begane grond van twee vensters de borstwering verhoogd. In het interieur van beide paviljoens een gietijzeren kolom midden in deze vleugels. Gebouw 168 (Ambulancegebouw) is zowel vanwege de ligging als door de samenhang met de andere bouwwerken en de autonome typologische, architectuur- en cultuurhistorische waarden van belang als monument van jongere bouwkunst.

Description
Ambulance built in 1880 for housing a maximum of 16 sick persons, accommodation for the health officer, pharmacy and bathrooms. The hipped roof is clad with a zinc slate roof. Symmetrical facade composition. The entrance is framed with ashlar stone, on each side two windows finished with a segmental arch, with sash windows. The side facades have above the roof ridge of the pavilions a semicircular, cast-iron window. The pavilions have in each facade two coupled windows under a segmental arch of yellow brickwork. These also have a hipped roof clad with zinc (slate roof). The rear facade is more soberly executed: no relieved frieze and no natural stone framing of the door. On the right side on the ground floor two windows have raised parapets. In the interior of both pavilions a cast-iron column in the middle of these wings. Building 168 (Ambulance building) is significant both on account of its position and through its connection with the other structures and the autonomous typological, architectural and cultural-historical values as a monument of more recent architectural design.
