VAN TUYLLMONUMENT
In oorsprong zuidelijk van de Marathonpoort, als pendant van de Marathontoren gesitueerd, doch naderhand met kleinere architectonische 'omlijsting' naar de noordzijde van de Marathontoren verplaatst VAN TUYLL-MONUMENT, in 1928 ontworpen door Jan Wils en de beeldhouwster G.J.W. Rueb, ter nagedachtenis aan de eerste NOC-voorzitter F.W.C.H. baron van Tuyll van Serooskerken.
Het monument omvat een bronzen gestileerde sportsman die de Olympische groet uitbrengt, geplaatst op een gemetselde sokkel en omgeven door architectonisch geintegreerde bloembakken; de bronsfiguur is rechtsonder gesigneerd en gedateerd en blijkens inscriptie linksonder vervaardigd in de kunstgieterij te Leiden.
Waardering Van Tuyll-monument van belang wegens kunst- en cultuurhistorische waarde en als onderdeel van het Olympisch Stadion-complex.

Description
VAN TUYLL MONUMENT
Originally situated to the south of the Marathon Gate, as a counterpart to the Marathon Tower, but subsequently relocated with smaller architectural 'framing' to the north side of the Marathon Tower, VAN TUYLL MONUMENT, designed in 1928 by Jan Wils and sculptress G.J.W. Rueb, in commemoration of the first NOC chairman F.W.C.H. baron van Tuyll van Serooskerken.
The monument comprises a bronze stylised sportsman giving the Olympic salute, placed on a masonry base and surrounded by architecturally integrated flower boxes; the bronze figure is signed and dated lower right and, as evidenced by inscription lower left, made in the foundry in Leiden.
Valuation Van Tuyll Monument of importance by reason of its art historical and cultural value and as a component of the Olympic Stadium complex.
