Wittevrouwenkade 1 en 6 alsmede het tijdelijk afwezige hek zijn restanten van de Willemskazerne uit 1824.
Wittevrouwenkade 6 is het rechter hoekpaviljoen (gezien vanaf de singel) en is een pand van drie bouwlagen en een afgeplat schilddak. De voorgevel vertoont een sokkel van rustiek werk en een dergelijke bergstenen zaagtand langs de hoeken en onder het dak een kroonlijst met consoles, een en ander nog behorend bij of ontleend aan de in 1877 vernieuwde middenpartij van de kazerne.
De Willemskazerne werd van 1824 tot 1829 gebouwd op het terrein van de gesloopte Wittevrouwenabdij, naar ontwerp van Luitenant Kolonel Offerhaus en onder leiding van de stadsarchitect Van Embden. De kazerne brandde af in 1877. Hoewel de hoekpartijen nu een forse indruk maken, flankeerden ze oorspronkelijk op bescheiden wijze het enorme hoofdgebouw, dat zijn hoofdingang aan de Ridderschapstraat had.

Description
Wittevrouwenkade 1 and 6 as well as the temporarily absent fence are remains of the Willemskazerne from 1824.
Wittevrouwenkade 6 is the right corner pavilion (viewed from the singel) and is a building of three storeys and a hipped roof. The front facade shows a plinth of rusticated work and a similar brick tooth pattern along the corners and under the roof a cornice with consoles, all of which still belonged to or were borrowed from the middle section of the barracks renewed in 1877.
The Willemskazerne was built from 1824 to 1829 on the site of the demolished Wittevrouwenabdij, designed by Lieutenant Colonel Offerhaus and under the direction of the city architect Van Embden. The barracks burned down in 1877. Although the corner sections now make a substantial impression, they originally flanked in modest fashion the enormous main building, which had its main entrance on the Ridderschapstraat.
The building and fence are of historical and architectural value.
