Omschrijving
In 1936 gebouwde brugkazemat Katwijk Zuid, gelegen nabij Everdineweerd 27 te Katwijk, ter verdediging van de spoorbrug en het pontveer over de Maas.
Gewapend betonnen brugkazemat, bewapend met kanon en mitrailleur, in 1936 tezamen gebouwd met brugkazemat Katwijk Noord (reeds geamoveerd) ter verdediging van de daar aanwezige oeververbindingen, welke kazemat van grote cultuurhistorische waarde is voor de Nederlandse krijgsgeschiedenis vanwege de van daaruit geboden krachtige weerstand tegen de Duitse bezetters. De brugkazemat Katwijk Zuid is door zijn situering in het dijklandschap en de betekenis voor de Nederlandse krijgsgeschiedenis van cultuurhistorische waarde.

Description
Bridge casemate Katwijk South built in 1936, located near Everdineweerd 27 at Katwijk, for the defence of the railway bridge and the ferry across the Maas.
Reinforced concrete bridge casemate, armed with cannon and machine gun, built together in 1936 with bridge casemate Katwijk North (already removed) for the defence of the river connections present there, which casemate is of great cultural-historical value for Dutch military history owing to the strong resistance offered from there against the German occupiers. The bridge casemate Katwijk South is of cultural-historical value by virtue of its situation in the dike landscape and its significance for Dutch military history.
