Omschrijving
ARSENAAL gelegen in het "benedenkamp", gebouwd in 1879 voor de berging van artilleriematerieel en kampementseffecten. Oorspronkelijk hadden de beide kopgevels een gelijke indeling. De oostgevel is verbouwd, waarbij de dubbele deuren vervangen zijn door vensters. De opzet van de westelijke gevel is niet gewijzigd. Gebouw ligt enigszins terug met de hoofdgevel naar de Kon. Julianaweg.
Langwerpige bouwmassa van een laag met kap. Gevels van rode baksteen met gietijzeren muurankers, voorgevel wit gepleisterd en door middel van imitatievoegen onderverdeeld in grote blokken.
Het zadeldak is gedekt met keramische o.v.h. pannen gemêleerd rood en donkergrijs. Het dakvlak is rondom voorzien van een deels vlakke, deels geprofileerde windveer/dakgoot. In de voorgevel twee dubbele deuren beëindigd met een segmentboog. Op de verdieping een hijsluik met hardstenen onderdorpel, waarboven een ijzeren hijsbalk. In de rechter zijgevel een dubbele toegangsdeur gelijk aan die in de voorgevel. Links hiervan drie, van luiken voorziene, vensters (indeling 3x4) met een hardstenen onderdorpel en een strek van gele baksteen. Rechts twee kleine deuren van later datum en twee vensters met luiken. De linker zijgevel is ingedeeld met zes vensters, gelijk aan die van de rechter zijgevel met in het midden een klein wc-raam. De achtergevel heeft ter plaatse van de oorspronkelijk dubbele deuren twee raamkozijnen met driedeling en bakstenen borstweringen. Op de verdieping zijn het hijsluik en de hijsbalk nog aanwezig.
De wijzigingen die zich tot enkele kozijnen beperken, hebben geen invloed op het vormbepalende karakter van het gebouw. Het heeft hierdoor nog een gave vormgeving van een bedrijfsgebouw uit die tijd. Dit, ten behoeve van aan- en afvoer naar het magazijn, terugliggend gebouw in combinatie met de in de directe omgeving aanwezig zijnde woningen (nrs 71 en 78) aan de Kon. Julianalaan vormt de basis van de eerste aanleg van het 'benedenkamp' van het ASK. Het gebouw is zowel op zichzelf als in samenhang met de nabij gelegen gebouwen van algemeen belang wegens de aan het gebouw verbonden geschiedkundige herinneringen. Het houdt de geschiedenis van het Artillerie Schietkamp zichtbaar.
Gebouw 74 'Arsenaal' is zowel vanwege ligging als door de samenhang met de andere bouwwerken en de autonome architectuur- en cultuurhistorische waarden van belang als evident monument van jongere bouwkunst.

Description
ARSENAL located in the "benedenkamp", built in 1879 for the storage of artillery material and camp equipment. Originally both gables had identical layout. Elongated building mass of one storey with roof truss structure. Facades of red brick with cast iron wall anchors, front facade white plastered and subdivided by means of imitation joints into large blocks.
The gabled roof is covered with ceramic tiles blended red and dark grey. The roof plane is provided all around with a partly flat, partly moulded wind board/eaves. In the front facade two double doors ending with a segmental arch. On the upper storey a hoist door with a hardstone sill, above which an iron hoist beam. In the right side facade a double entrance door identical to those in the front facade. To the left of this three windows provided with shutters (layout 3x4) with a hardstone sill and a course of yellow brick. To the right two small doors of later date and two windows with shutters. The left side facade is divided with six windows, identical to those of the right side facade with in the centre a small wc window. The rear facade has at the location of the originally double doors two window frames with three-part division and brick parapets. On the upper storey the hoist door and hoist beam are still present.
The modifications, which are limited to a few windows, have no influence on the character-defining nature of the building. This preserves for it an intact design of an industrial building from that period. This building, set back for the purpose of transport to and from the storehouse, in combination with the dwellings present in the immediate surroundings (nos. 71 and 78) on the Kon. Julianalaan forms the basis of the first layout of the 'benedenkamp' of the ASK. The building is of general importance both in itself and in conjunction with nearby buildings because of the historical memories associated with the building. It preserves the history of the Artillery Range visible.
Building 74 'Arsenal' is important both because of its location and through its coherence with other structures and autonomous architectural and cultural historical values as an evident monument of more recent architecture.
