Een drietal lunetten behorende tot het zogenaamde verschanste kamp te Vught aangelegd in opdracht van Koning Willem II; gelegen op de Vughtse heide in bosrijk terrein en worden begrensd door; in het noorden: het Drongelens Kanaal, in het westen: Kazerneterreinen aan de Lunettenlaan, in het zuiden: de Loonsebaan en Boslaan, in de oosten: het bospad in het verlengde van de Breautelaan. Het gebied zal t.z.t. nader worden aangegeven op een ingekleurde kaart.
De FUSILLADEPLAATS met GEDENKTEKEN, behorend bij het voormalige concentratiekamp Vught is gelegen ten oosten van het concentratiekampterrein, in de middelste van een drietal in 1844 aangelegde lunetten op de Vughtse heide, die onderdeel vormden van de stelling van 's-Hertogenbosch. Deze zijn reeds als Rijksmonument beschermd (Mon. no. 38168). Op deze fussiladeplaats vonden zeker 329 gevangenen van het concentratiekamp de dood. Vlak na de oorlog werd bij de kogelvanger van de fusilladeplaats door de Vughtenaren Henk van der Pas en Piet van Laarhoven een groot houten kruis opgericht. In 1947 werd voor de kogelvanger een gedenkwand geplaatst, naar ontwerp van de Bussumse architect Joh. F. van Herwerden. De fusilladeplaats maakt heden onderdeel uit van het Nationaal Monument Kamp Vught. De oorspronkelijke natuurstenen platen, waarop de namen van de gesneuvelden, zijn in 1997 na bekladding vervangen door replica's. Omschrijving. De fusilladeplaats bestaat uit een vierkant terrein, gelegen aan de noordelijke zijde van de globaal driehoekige Lunet II. De plaats wordt voorafgegaan door een langgerekt pad, lopend over de noord-zuid as van de lunet. Aan de noordzijde van de fusilladeplaats ligt de een aarden wal, die dienst deed als kogelvanger, met daarvoor een circa anderhalve meter diepe sleuf. Boven op deze aarden wal een groot eikenhouten kruis. De gedenkwand bestaat uit een 26-tal gedenkplaten van Franse natuursteen, waarop de namen van de 329 gevangenen die op deze plaats werden gefusilleerd zijn aangebracht. In de ten opzichte van de gedenkplaten iets vooruitspringende basis van de gedenkwand de tekst: "Den vaderlant ghetrouwe, blijf ik tot in den doet". De fusilladeplaats met gedenkteken, behorend bij het complex van het voormalige concentratiekamp Vught is van algemeen belang. De fusilladeplaats en gedenkteken bezitten cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een historische ontwikkeling: als herinnering aan de op deze plaats gefusilleerde gevangenen heeft het object grote historische waarde. De fusilladeplaats bezit ensemblewaarde als essentieel onderdeel van het concentratiekamp Vught, dat cultuurhistorisch van (inter-)nationaal belang is. The FIRING PLACE with MEMORIAL, belonging to the former concentration camp Vught is located to the east of the concentration camp grounds, in the middle of three lunettes constructed in 1844 on the Vughtse heath, which formed part of the fortifications of 's-Hertogenbosch.
