Staatsspoorstation van het zgn. type Zaltbommel (plm 1868) gekarakteriseerd door een fors middenstuk van twee verdiepingen met dakrichting loodrecht op de sporen en zijvleugels met dakrichting evenwijdig aan de sporen, gelegen aan een bomenlaan, die evenwijdig aan de frontzijde loopt, een situering die typerend is voor de stationsaanleg in die tijd. Nauwelijks versierde utiliteits-architectuur uit de eerste aanlegperiode.

State Railway station of the so-called Zaltbommel type (c. 1868) characterized by a substantial central section of two storeys with roof direction perpendicular to the tracks and side wings with roof direction parallel to the tracks, situated on a tree-lined avenue running parallel to the front side, a situation typical of the station layout of that period.
