Omschrijving
Voormalig Gerard Adriaan van Swietentuinbouwschool.
Gebouwd in 1887 als school ten behoeve van de opleiding tot bosbaas, met bijbehorende directeurswoning.
In 1902 bij gebrek aan een Rijksbijdrage, opgeheven. Vanaf 1903 tot 1974 was in dit gebouw gevestigd het kantoor van de Maatschappij van Weldadigheid.
Gebouw op rechthoekige plattegrond, waarvan het voorhuis twee bouwlagen, het achterhuis een bouwlaag telt. Het geheel is opgetrokken uit donkere steen en wordt gedekt door een schilddak, belegd met blauwgeglazuurde pannen. Twee hoekschoorstenen. Geprofileerde houten kroonlijst met tandlijst, met opschrift:Kantoor de Maatschappij van Weldadigheid
De voorgevel is symmetrisch ingedeeld; de even risalerende ingangspartij, waarin niet- oorspronkelijke deur, wordt benadrukt door bakstenen pilasters met vlak kapiteel, die een eenvoudig balkon en gesneden consoles dragen, uitkomend op het balkon door aedicula omlijste openslaande deuren, daarboven dakkapel met geprofileerd fronton met bekroning door obelisk. De zesruitsschuifvensters zijn voorzien van een eenvoudige geprofileerde houten omlijsting. De scheiding tussen eerste en tweede bouwlaag wordt aangegeven door beschilderde natuurstenen banden.
Het achterhuis heeft eenzelfde detaillering, de dakkapel is niet oorspronkelijk.
Het gebouw was oorspronkelijk uitgerust met persiennes op de begane grond en rolluiken onder lambrequins op de verdieping.

Former Gerard Adriaan van Swieten horticultural school.
Built in 1887 as a school for the training of forest managers, with attached director's residence.
In 1902 closed due to lack of state funding. From 1903 to 1974 this building housed the office of the Maatschappij van Weldadigheid.
Building on rectangular plan, of which the front section has two storeys, the rear section one storey. The whole is built of dark stone and covered by a hipped roof, tiled with blue-glazed tiles. Two corner chimneys. Profiled wooden cornice with dentil moulding, with inscription: Office of the Maatschappij van Weldadigheid
The front facade is symmetrically arranged; the slightly projecting entrance section, containing a non-original door, is emphasised by brick pilasters with flat capitals, which carry a simple balcony and carved consoles, leading onto the balcony through doors framed by an aedicula, above which a dormer window with profiled pediment crowned by an obelisk. The six-pane sash windows are provided with a simple profiled wooden frame. The division between first and second storey is indicated by painted stone bands.
The rear section has similar detailing; the dormer window is not original.
The building was originally equipped with shutters on the ground floor and roller shutters under lambrequins on the first floor.
