Omschrijving
Enveloppe, onderdeel van het verdedigingswerk vesting Gorinchem, deel uitmakend van de Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie. De enveloppe bestaat uit een aanleg van aardwerken en gracht zoals hierna genoemd.
De aanleg vormt een onderdeel van de oostelijke verdedigingswal van Gorinchem en omvat een borstwering met wapenplaatsen en traversen, een glacis en voorliggende natte gracht.
De enveloppe volgt het beloop van de buitenboordzijde van de gracht vanaf de Spijksedijk aan de noordzijde van de vesting (vanaf bastion XI), met de klok mee tot aan de Dalemsepoort in courtine VII-VIII.

Description
Envelope, component of the fortification work of Gorinchem fortress, forming part of the Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie. The envelope consists of an earthwork installation and moat as named below.
The installation forms part of the eastern defensive wall of Gorinchem and comprises a breastwork with weapon positions and traverses, a glacis and moat in front.
The envelope follows the course of the outer side of the moat from the Spijksedijk on the north side of the fortress (from bastion XI), clockwise to the Dalemsepoort in curtain VII-VIII.
