WATERTOREN. Naar ontwerp van C.B. van der Tak in eclectische trant, met op Romaanse en oriëntaalse bouwkunst geinspireerde motieven, gebouwde ronde watertoren met een hoogte van 48 meter. Opgetrokken in baksteen op een natuurstenen sokkel, in vier geledingen onder een zinken kegelvormig dak, voorzien van dakkapellen en lantaarn met spits, waarin een extra hoog-waterreservoir; het lichtuitkragende waterreservoir met hout bekleed, met geschulpte randen aan de onderzijde. De vensters, voorzien van een houten roedenverdeling, zijn alle halfrond afgesloten. De ingangspartij bevat oorspronkelijk deur en gestucte omlijstingen met eenvoudig versierde colonnetten en bogen, op de eerste verdieping aanduiding van de bouwtijd 1871-1873 ter weerszijde van het stadswapen. De toren bevat op de drie (woon)verdiepingen boognissen waarin gekoppelde vensters, en een variant van het keperboogfries. Aan de westzijde de drie nog resterende geledingen van de schoorsteen.

Description
WATER TOWER. Designed by C.B. van der Tak in eclectic style, with motifs inspired by Romanesque and Oriental architecture, built round water tower with a height of 48 metres. Constructed in brick on a natural stone plinth, in four storeys under a zinc conical roof, furnished with roof dormers and lantern with spire, containing an extra high-water reservoir; the projecting light water reservoir clad with wood, with sculpted edges at the underside. The windows, furnished with wooden glazing bars, are all semicircularly closed. The entrance section contains originally door and stuccoed surrounds with simply decorated colonnettes and arches, on the first storey indication of the construction period 1871-1873 on either side of the town arms. The tower contains on the three (residential) storeys recesses in which coupled windows, and a variant of the herringbone arch frieze. On the west side the three remaining storeys of the chimney.
