Ommerschans. Gedeelten van de grachten en wallen van een in de jaren 1623-1628 aangelegd gebastionneerd vierkant, dat in 1741 werd verbeterd in Nieuw-Nederlandse stijl. In 1819 werd de schans door de Maatschappij van Weldadigheid overgenomen, teneinde er een bedelaarskolonie te stichten. Behalve krijgsgeschiedkundig is de schans in zijn huidige toestand ook landschappelijk van belang.

Description
Ommerschans. Sections of the ditches and ramparts of a bastion-shaped square laid out in the years 1623-1628, which was improved in 1741 in New Dutch style. In 1819 the redoubt was taken over by the Maatschappij van Weldadigheid to establish a mendicant colony there. Besides its military-historical significance, the redoubt in its present condition is also of landscape importance.
