Omschrijving
De Beurs. GEBOUW in neo-renaissance stijl met sterk eclectische trekken. Laatste werk 1880 van Th.Romein (1811-1881), stadsbouwmeester van Leeuwarden.
Blokvormige bouwmassa onder, door eenvoudig geprofileerde forse kroonlijst met gootlijst op consoles omlijst, met leien gedekt afgeknot schilddak. Door venster- en deuropeningen symmetrisch ingedeelde gevels, elk voorzien van forse middenrisaliet, waarvan drie bekroond door driehoekig fronton en voorzien van ingang.
Hoofdingang benadrukt door hardstenen bordes, drie rijk gedecoreerde bronzen deuren (latere toevoeging), op balusters rustende vensters met gedecoreerd, door hardstenen lijst omzoomd bovenlicht en attiek (waarin klok) met segmentvormige gebroken fronton en klauwstukken.
Ter weerszijden van attiek balustrade waarop 2 vazen. Overige rondboogvensters voorzien van stucomlijsting.
Hoeken gebouw, risalieten en ruimten tussen vensters hoofdingang benadrukt c.q. ingedeeld door pilasters; basementen voorzien van guirlandes.
Begane grond uitgevoerd in vlak hardstenen rusticawerk; verdieping in rode baksteen. Boven ingang Willemskade cartouche met opschrift: SPQL 1880.

Description
The Stock Exchange. BUILDING in neo-Renaissance style with strongly eclectic features. Final work 1880 by Th. Romein (1811-1881), master builder of Leeuwarden.
Block-shaped building mass under, bordered by a simple profiled heavy cornice with gutter on consoles, covered with slate hipped roof. Facades divided symmetrically by window and door openings, each provided with a heavy central projection, three of which crowned by triangular pediment and furnished with entrance.
Main entrance emphasized by hard stone steps, three richly decorated bronze doors (later addition), windows resting on balusters with decorated fanlight bordered by a hard stone frame and attic (containing clock) with segmental broken pediment and claw pieces.
On either side of attic a balustrade on which 2 vases. Other round-arch windows provided with stucco framing.
Corners of building, projections and spaces between windows of main entrance emphasized or divided by pilasters; bases provided with garlands.
Ground floor executed in smooth hard stone rustication; storey in red brick. Above entrance Willemskade cartouche with inscription: SPQL 1880.
