Omschrijving
PAROCHIEKERK van de H.Lambertus. Driebeukige kruisbasiliek met kooromgang, gebouw 1856-1861 in neogotische trant door Th.Molkenboer. De kerk is overdekt door houten kruisribgewelven; over de viering een in hout uitgevoerd stergewelf. Polychromie, meubilering en beglazing dateren uit de derde of vierde kwart van de 19e eeuw en zijn uitgevoerd volgens de inzichten van P.J.H.Cuypers (altaren gedateerd 1877). Preekstoel, gesneden in barokstijl. De door Molkenboer ommantelde en met een achtkant verhoogde toren is een overblijfsel van de laat-gotische parochiekerk. In de toren een klokkenspel door Alexius Julien te Lier, 1724, afkomstig uit de abdij van Postel in Belgie. In het torenportaal twee grafzerken, 1631 en 1626. Van oorsprong orgel met Grand'orque, Positif, Echo, Recit en aangehangen Pedaal. In 1772 gemaakt door G. Robustelly voor de Abdij van Averbode. In 1822 door A. Graindorge overgeplaatst naar Helmond. Description
PARISH CHURCH of St. Lambertus. Three-aisled cross-basilica with ambulatory, built 1856-1861 in neogothic manner by Th. Molkenboer. The church is covered by wooden cross-ribbed vaults; over the crossing a star vault executed in wood. Polychromy, furnishings and glazing date from the third or fourth quarter of the 19th century and were executed according to the principles of P.J.H.Cuypers (altars dated 1877). Pulpit, carved in baroque style. The tower encased by Molkenboer and heightened with an octagon is a relic of the late-gothic parish church. In the tower a carillon by Alexius Julien of Lier, 1724, originating from the abbey of Postel in Belgium. In the tower portal two gravestones, 1631 and 1626. Originally an organ with Grand Organ, Positif, Echo, Recit and attached Pedal. Made in 1772 by G. Robustelly for the Abbey of Averbode. In 1822 relocated by A. Graindorge to Helmond. In 1862 the organ was rebuilt by F.C. Smits into an organ with Main Work, Back Positive, Positive and free Pedal and placed in the new Lambertus church. At the restoration of 1976 the organ was left in this modified state.
