Omschrijving
Door Ir J.B. van Loghem in 1920-1922 voor de woningbouwvereniging 'Tuinwijk' gebouwd complex middenstandswoningen rond een gemeenschappelijke binnentuin.
De woningen zijn in groepen van twee gebouwd, die afwisselend een en twee verdiepingen tellen met platte daken. De in sobere baksteenvormen uitgevoerde huizen hebben aan de straatzijde portaaluitbouwtjes, waarop houten balkons en aan de tuinzijde onder de daklijst een breed fries van donkerkleurige baksteen, op de hoeken gemarkeerd door rechthoekige, gemetselde pilasters op kraagsteentjes. De huizen met twee verdiepingen hebben naast de bovenverdieping een plat dak met houten pergola.
Inwendig vertonen de wanden een bepleistering in de parterre contrasterend - althans in de oorspronkelijke opzet van Van Loghem - met de donkere balkenzoldering. De parterre heeft een centraal gesitueerd trappenhuis met houten balustrade, een van voor naar achter lopende woonkamer en aan de zijde van de binnentuin een tuinkamer. Keuken en berging zijn aan de straatzijde geplaatst.
Tussen de panden Zonnelaan 19 en 21, alsmede tussen de panden Tuinwijklaan 20 en 22 poortgebouwen, die toegang geven tot de binnentuinen en waarvan de doorgang overkluisd is door een tongewelf.
Aan de straatzijde worden deze poortpartijen door muurtjes met gemetselde hoekposten en aan de tuinzijde door hoog opgetrokken schoorstenen gemarkeerd.

Description
Complex of middle-class housing built by Ir J.B. van Loghem in 1920-1922 for the housing association 'Tuinwijk' arranged around a shared communal courtyard.
The dwellings are built in groups of two, alternating between one and two storeys with flat roofs. The houses, executed in sober brickwork forms, have portal projections on the street side with wooden balconies and on the courtyard side beneath the eaves line a broad frieze of dark-coloured brick, marked at the corners by rectangular, mortared pilasters on corbels. The two-storey houses have a flat roof with wooden pergola alongside the upper storey.
Internally the walls show plastering on the ground floor contrasting - at least in Van Loghem's original design - with the dark beam ceilings. The ground floor has a centrally situated stairwell with wooden balustrade, a living room running from front to back and on the courtyard side a garden room. Kitchen and storage are placed on the street side.
Between the properties at Zonnelaan 19 and 21, and also between the properties at Tuinwijklaan 20 and 22, are gateway buildings providing access to the inner courtyards, the passage of which is vaulted by a barrel vault.
On the street side these gateway sections are marked by small walls with mortared corner posts and on the courtyard side by tall chimney stacks.
