Omschrijving
NED. HERV. KERK. Ontstaan uit een eenbeukige romaanse kerk van rond 1200, waarvan de noordmuur nog grotendeels over is. In 1480 zuid- en oostwaarts vergroot tot tweebeukige hallenkerk met driezijdig gesloten koor. In 1842 is de kerk verbouwd tot een zaalruimte door het uitbreken van zuilen, bogen en gewelven en het samentrekken van de beide koorsluitingen. Bij herstelling na de brand van 1862 zijn de smalle spitsboogvensters vervangen door brede rondboogvensters. Het geheel is in zandsteen opgetrokken. Opgravingen in 1928. In de muur van de kerk is een stenen zonnewijzer, 1836, ingemetseld. Eronder een tijdvereffeningslus met datumaanwijzing. Daaronder op een aparte steen staat een gedicht in een chronogram voor het jaartal 1936.
In 1892 door de firma Van Dam te Leeuwarden vervaardigd orgel van 39 registers, verdeeld over Hoofdwerk, Positief, Bovenwerk en Pedaal (in 1953 werd door orgelmaker Flentrop een vijftal registers vervangen en werd de mechaniek voor een deel vernieuwd). Dit orgel mag worden beschouwd als het laatste grote instrument dat door de firma Van Dam (1785 tot circa 1900) op klassieke wijze is vervaardigd. Het instrument is gevat in een houten kas voorzien van een 19e eeuwse gesneden ornamentatie met klassieke motieven.

Description
DUTCH REFORMED CHURCH. Developed from a single-aisle Romanesque church of around 1200, of which the north wall is still largely preserved. In 1480 enlarged to the south and east into a two-aisle hall church with a three-sided closed choir. In 1842 the church was rebuilt as a hall space by removing columns, arches and vaults and joining the two choir closings. During restoration after the fire of 1862, the narrow pointed-arch windows were replaced by wide round-arch windows. The whole is constructed in sandstone. Excavations in 1928. In the wall of the church a stone sundial, 1836, is embedded. Below it an equation of time loop with date indication. Below that on a separate stone stands a poem in a chronogram for the year 1936.
In 1892 an organ of 39 registers, manufactured by the firm Van Dam at Leeuwarden, divided over Great Organ, Positive, Swell and Pedal (in 1953 organ builder Flentrop replaced a number of registers and partly renewed the mechanics). This organ may be considered the last large instrument made by the firm Van Dam (1785 to circa 1900) in the classical manner. The instrument is housed in a wooden case provided with 19th-century carved ornaments with classical motifs.
