Omschrijving
"Het Kasteel". Het voormalig kasteel; sinds 1826 Koninklijke Militaire Academie. Van de grachten is alleen de buitengracht bewaard gebleven.
Het kasteel bestaat thans uit: een onderkelderd hoofdgebouw van vier om een binnenplaats gelegen vleugels met zevenkante uitspringende torentjes op de oostelijke buitenhoeken. De westelijke en noordelijke vleugel en het noordelijk deel van de oostelijke vleugel dateren uit 1536-' 38 (tijdens Hendrik III van Nassau onder leiding van Thomas Vincidor da Bologna). Het zuidelijk deel van de oostvleugel en de zuidelijke vleugel dateren uit 1668-'81 (tijdens koning-stadhouder Willem III onder leiding van Jacob Roman).
Binnenhof met open galerij onder graatgewelven en met Dorische zuilen; Ionische pilasters in de eerste verdieping. Bovenverdieping en westelijke uitbouwen uit 1826-'28. Belang nog verhoogd door de recente vondsten van bouw- en beeldhouwfragmenten in de fundering van de gesloopte manege (1827) aan het Kasteelplein.
Voorgebouw met Rekenkamer (1462, met toren), Blokhuis, poort en (thans gesloten) galerij (circa 1535).
Ten zuidwesten van het hoofdgebouw, aan de buitengracht gelegen, twee grote zevenhoekige torens (1509 vv.) die een met baksteen beklampte wal, met een waterpoort, flankeren. Dit zijn de zogenaamde Granaat- en Duiventoren ofwel het Spanjaardsgat.
Voormalig Arsenaal, thans Kwartierziekenverblijf, uit eerste helft van de negentiende eeuw, met laag zadeldak en rondboogvensters met witte roeden.
Tot de Koninklijk Militaire Academie behoort ook het huis Brecht, aan de Cingelstraat.

The castle now consists of: an undercellared main building of four wings arranged around an inner courtyard with seven-sided projecting turrets on the eastern exterior corners. The western and northern wing and the northern part of the eastern wing date from 1536-'38 (during Hendrik III van Nassau under the direction of Thomas Vincidor da Bologna). The southern part of the east wing and the southern wing date from 1668-'81 (during King-Stadtholder Willem III under the direction of Jacob Roman).
Inner courtyard with open gallery under groin vaults and with Doric columns; Ionic pilasters on the first floor. Upper storey and western extensions from 1826-'28. Significance further heightened by recent finds of architectural and sculptural fragments in the foundation of the demolished riding school (1827) at the Kasteelplein.
