Exterior description and setting

A single-storey/ three-bay cottage, which slopes with gradient of ground, aligned W-E on a lane to the N of Cloncorr Townland.

Pitched corrugated metal roof with two whitewashed cement-rendered chimneys - one to party wall between each bay. Rainwater goods are half-round metal. Walls are lime-rendered and whitewashed. All windows are 2/2 (horizontally divided) with horns, contrasting painted reveals and painted stone cills (unless otherwise stated).

Principal elevation faces S. Central bay has a windbreak porch with flat cement-coped roof at left and a window to its right. The porch has a glazed and timber door (accessed by a single concrete step) to front face; right and left cheeks are blank. Left and right bays each have two windows. Openings are set progressively lower, due to the topography (those to right bay are lowest and set on the same plane).

Left gable is abutted by a lean-to shed. The apex of the exposed section has a 1/2 top-hung casement window with cement cill. The shed has a corrugated metal roof, is of concrete block and brick construction and is built into a bank. W gable is blank, right cheek has a large corrugated metal door with a fixed corrugated metal sheeting filling the space above; right end is fixed t+g sheeted. Left cheek has a t+g sheeted door to left end.

Rear elevation is partly as façade, partly of whitewashed concrete blocks, and is abutted to left of centre by a single storey lean-to return (see later). Central bay has a large timber top-hung casement with cement cill to centre. Return has a monopitched corrugated metal roof; walls are concrete block. Rear face has a top-hung casement (without cill) to either side. Right cheek has a t+g sheeted door. Left cheek has a fixed pane 2/2 window (also without cill).

Right gable is abutted by an outbuilding. The exposed apex has a window with timber lintel (details are unclear due to dense vegetation). Shed has a pitched corrugated metal roof and limewashed concrete block walls. S face has a large corrugated metal door to centre and t+g sheeted doors to left and right ends. Left gable abuts house. Rear elevation has a window (boarded over) to centre. Right gable is abutted by a corrugated metal lean-to shed, without openings but open to E.

Outbuildings:
To E of the group, aligned N-S, are two further outbuildings. That nearest the house has lime rendered rubble-stone walls with decorative contrasting painted stepped quoins and base course. Roof is pitched corrugated metal and openings are t+g sheeted. To its right is a large corrugated metal hayshed constructed on a timber frame.

Setting:
The group occupies an isolated site with pasture to rear and mature woodland to left. Opposite house is a maturely planted garden enclosed by a whitewashed cement rendered wall and accessed by two small cast-iron gates.
