Exterior description and setting

A 3 bay wide 2 ½ storey with basement and 2 storey flat roofed back return. At ground floor from left shop door with fanlight. Shop window, both with roller shutters. Panelled door to living accommodation with plain rectangular fanlight. Gateway. Over a plain name fascia full width of façade with moulded stops at each end and thin framing top and bottom. Simple applied lettering. At first floor 3 no. double hung sliding sash 2 pane windows with moulded architraves, deep plain frieze and corbel course under gutter. Wall smooth rendered and painted. ½ round metal gutter, simple round downpipe. 2 gabled dormers on roof with curved fretwork barges. Natural slated roof. Chimney stacks at each end. Ridge slightly lower than No. 47.

To the rear a recently constructed 2 storey flat roof back return to side of gateway. Passageway has steep fall. 3 windows at ground and 1st floor double hung sliding sash 4 pane, remainder of windows modern style. Walls roughcast rendered recently and unpainted. 2 no. original 2 pane iron rooflights on natural slated roof.

Building front continues terrace building line.

Historical information

Building probably erected c 1880s. The former owner (name retained on shop fascia) resided here until 12 years ago.The building was renovated in
