The National Monuments Service's description
Excavated (E3491) during 2005 by T. Breen as part of Site 27 at Raheenagurren West, which was one of the excavations undertaken in advance of the construction of the N11 Arklow-Gorey link-road. Situated on a gentle W-facing slope. An area of broken and burnt stone (feature 19) (dims. 5m x 2m; T 0.1m) consisted of two layers, one probably a re-deposit, at the edge of an ancient NW-SE water-channel also associated with fulachta fia (WX012-034003-) c. 100m to the SW. This burnt mound overlay a subcircular depression (dims. 1.3m x 1.13m; D 0.2m) that may have been a trough. The rath (WX012-003----) is just to the NE, the burnt mound (WX012-034009-) is c. 20m to the SE, and the excavated features (WX012-034007-) are c. 90m to the SE. The fulacht fia (WX012-034002-) is c. 55m to the SW. (Breen 2008, 11)
