The National Monuments Service's description

Excavated (E3489) during 2005 by T. Breen as Site 25 at Raheenagurren West, which was one of the excavations undertaken in advance of the construction of the N11 Arklow-Gorey link-road. Situated in a low-lying area. An oval layer of broken and burnt stone (dims. 10m x 6.75m; max. T 0.3m) overlay an oval trough (dims. 2.6m E-W; 1.36m N-S; D 0.73m) which had three pairs of stake-holes in its base, and a cluster of stake-holes outside it to the NW. There was a small shalow trough (dims. 1.48m x 0.6m; D 0.1m) just to is E, and another rectangular trough (dims. 1.5m x 1.2m; D 0.26m) with a flat base c. 4m further E and just outside the mound. This trough had stake-holes in the corners but the fill was largely devoid of burnt stone. Fulacht fia (WX012-034001-) is c. 35m to the WSW and fulacht fia (WX012-034003-) is c. 100m to the ESE where there are more fulachta fia. (Breen 2008; 2008a)
