The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on a low rise and surrounded by hills within c. 1.5 km in all directions except to the SE. It is marked only on the 1925 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, but it was known locally as Seana Kyle - the old church (Hore 1901-11, vol. 6, 666). The remains of a rectangular building appear as a sunken area oriented E-W (int. dims. 13.3m E-W; 7m N-S) defined by a spread of stones including quartz stones. It is within a slightly raised quadrilateral area (dims. c. 20-40m E-W; c. 20-30m N-S) defined by a field bank and townland boundary with Ballyandrew at SW, a field bank at N and a slight scarp (H 0.2m) at E and SE. There is no evidence of burial. The bullaun stone, which is an oval granite stone (dims 0.67m x 0.44m; H 0.33m) with a single basin (dims 0.36m x 0.24m; D 0.12m) is now kept at Ballyboy (WX010-030----), c. 4.5km to the W. A hole (dims 4cm x 2cm; D 2cm) has been bored in the outer face of the stone but it does not penetrate to the basin. Rath (WX010-019----) is immediately adjacent to the S.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wexford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1996). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
