The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on the NW-facing slope of a hill in pasture with tillage to the SE. A circular area (diam. 41m N-S; 43.2m NE-SW) defined by a substantial earthen bank (Wth 4m; int. H 1.2m; ext. H 2.25m), a wide, deep, flat-bottomed fosse (Wth 6m; D 1.5m) and outer bank (Wth c. 2.5m). The external face of the outer bank has a retaining stone wall in the SW and NW quadrants though the latter has largely collapsed. Stones and dead trees have been dumped in the fosse in the SE quadrant and stones against the outer bank at N.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
