The National Monuments Service's description
Located on the W-facing slope of a hill in undulating pastureland with bog to the NW at the base of the hill. A roughly circular area (diam. 45m N-S; c. 40m E-W), levelled, but visible as a curving earth and stone field boundary (int. H 0.7m) N through S, which defines the E edge. The remainder of the site is defined by dark green grass indicating the former fosse (Wth c. 2m). There is a clear gap in this grass mark (Wth 6m) at W. The site was inspected in 1957 and described as an 'earthen ringfort, with a single bank and external fosse, slightly saucer-shaped' (OPW Correspondence, 1.8.1957).
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
