The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on the NW-facing slope of a hill in undulating terrain with bog to the NW at the base of the hill. The site was inspected in 1957 and described as an 'earthen ringfort, consisting of a low platform with bank, but no fosse, with a good deal of stone in the bank' (OPW Correspondence, 1.8.1957). The site has since been levelled but survives as a very slight bank (Wth c. 3m) in the NW quadrant visible elsewhere as differential grass growth. A possible external fosse is indicated by some areas of darker grass. The slightly oval interior (diam. 34.5m N-S; 29m E-W) slopes to the NW.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
