The National Monuments Service's description
Located at the highest point of and at the centre of a NE-SW drumlin ridge. This is a subcircular grass-covered area (dims 35m E-W; 30m N-S) defined by an overgrown earthen bank separated by a fosse SW-N-ESE from a broad but slight outer bank SW-N. The original entrance (Wth of base 2.5m) is at ESE.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
