The National Monuments Service's description

Located towards the top of a S-facing slope. This is depicted as a D-shaped enclosure with trees on the perimeter and a house at the straight E edge on the 1834 edition of the OS 6-inch map and as a subcircular enclosure on the 1907 edition. It is a D-shaped grass-covered area (dims 34m N-S; 26m E-W) defined by a slight earthen bank (Wth c. 2m; ext. H c. 1m) with some trees SSE-W-NNE, and an outer fosse (at W: Wth of top 5m; Wth of base 3.5m; ext. D 0.4m) SW-N. The original entrance is not recognised but it may have been NNE-SSE where the perimeter was cut by an old N-S building, now removed. The small field to the N had been converted to a haggard by 2005 (OSAP).

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
