The National Monuments Service's description
In pasture, located on the E side of a rise in gently undulating terrain. Ground falls away to E, levelling out to an area of wettish pasture. Views are most extensive to N, and NE–SE.
Slightly raised circular area (28.5m N–S; 28m E–W) defined by a compact earthen bank (Wth 3m; int. H 0.8m; ext. H 1.45m at N, 1.8m at SE). The external height of the bank is greatest at E–SE, compensating for the steeper natural slope on that side. A very shallow depression (Wth 2m) evident outside the bank at NW and at NE may indicate an external fosse. There is a break (Wth 1.6m) in the bank at NE, which might be the location of the original entrance, and an eroded break (Wth 1.2m) at SW. A heap of field clearance stones abuts the external slope of the bank at S. Two irregular-shaped stony pits (max. dim. 3-5m) are dug into the ground a few meters S of the rath. Grass and ferns in interior, with hawthorn trees on perimeter.
